He was inconsistent ("If it makes money it makes cents" OK well here's eight millions "Er... he ain't fought nobody") and at the time Margarito was the best opponent for him (a Welterweight title holder offering a career high payday). Of course once the Baldomir fight was made (linear champion, begging to be relieved of the title) then Margarito was no longer the best option regardless of the money. The $8,000,001 figure just seemed bogus to me, really bull**** spin.

It was an investment to get the linear championship, and led to Floyd's two highest paydays against De La Hoya and Hatton.
Nice throw in my friend... but I have to correct you. As he told Margarito that he's going to make him a millionaire was after the Judah fight. And yes they offered him 8 million dollars. But then somebody came up with Baldomir... and he took Baldo... and yes he got 8 million and 1 dollar for fight. I still know it... because I laughed my ass of on it... because if you think about it... he took what brought him more money... and even he said it with a smile... it was an interview... I think it was even here on BoxingScene... it's really true... you see... I'm really trying to be objective on it... and the reason why I argue in such a matter for Floyd is... becuse I hate unjustice and disrespectful behaviour. I totally not agree on everything he does... but like I said... I'm a human being, he's a human being... the only thing that I'm maybe allowed to judge is his in ring ability. The talking and all that **** is talking... for me it's important how somebody acts in the ring and afterwards... the trash talking is trash talking... I couldn' care less... Ali called Frazier an Uncle Tom... and do we hate Ali... no some even found it funny. Tyson wanted to eat children and so on and on... I could give you a lot of examples. I respect his behaviour in the ring... I don't know how ppl can talk about him and say he cheated them for their money... that's BS... Floyd always comes prepared... always comes in shape... not like others (Toney, Morales (PPV against Pacquiao, 3rd fight)... Barrera (PPV against Pac, which was more a sparring session) and and and again I could call thousand names... Floyd always come prepared and gives what he's needed to give. And after the fight he always praises his opponents... it doesn't matter how much he bashed him... because he knows how it is to stand in the ring...

To the ducking thing... I can still tell you... that every move he made in his career... I can understand... I sometimes would have loved to see an other decision... but still I can understand every dicision he made. And now one more time back to the weight thing. I tell you now again... that nobody fought in their live 4 weight classes above their weight... and cleaned out that division. Sugar Ray Leonard went up to fight Hagler and not to clean up the division or whatever... and it doesn't matter what you think... there is simply nobody. I mean imaging for example Cotto... he started at 140 pounds. If he moves up 4 weight divisions he would be a middle weight. And did any1 honestly see Cotto compete with a MW??? or clean up the division? No, and it wouldn't happen. He's now at WW and he should if he competes, compete against the best. I agree, but not every1... but Cotto is the best and the one he's going to fight, if he comes back... I don't know why he should fight Margarito... it's meaningles. Margarito is ugly to fight but that doesn't make him the best WW.

Again I don't think that it's racist... but I remember it a little bit different when it comes to RJ. Yes, he fought every fight there... but the network never really supported him. And he also never got much help from then on PPV. In fact I can even remember how they bashed him at his HW fight. Lampley was saying something like... Ruiz is not a real champ... and Big George said... don't say that, you promted this fight as a HW Champ don't change your mind now... and Lampley said... the promoters promoted it like that... Long talk, short sense... I don't think that HBO did much for RJ... part of it was also Roy's should... but nonetheless... As Jones finally started to loose... they were more then happy to kick him out.

They also were mad at Roy because they wanted him to fight bigger names but he resorted to fighting guys everyone knew he would beat and still get millions in doing so. I see why 6-7 years ago Floyd said the 12 million dollar 6 fight deal they offered was slave money, look at how much he made during that time.

Its good he's made the money he has. But the "slave wages" comment was a slap in the face to every working man that speds their hard earned
money on any fighters PPV. And now he wonders why people dislike him and question him.

That deal was not a PPV deal. The deal was like to be Boxing After Dark and HBO Championship Boxing.

                • This headbutt nonsense going around the forum to undermine Holt's recent victory over Torres only gives support to Floyd and Wright's argument.
