But it kinda makes sense. I mean the way the public tries to shove how great these guys were down our throats, makes you think they were some sort of greats that we'll never see again.

I mean I still remember how shocked I was when I first found out Duran spanked Leonard toe to toe.

Even more shocked that people actually got wet over the whole "No Mas" inncident. I mean people make a big deal out of that. But if a guy won't fight you after you trained months to fight, isn't it obvious Duran did that out of frustration? It's not like Duran was gettin the skin beat off him..
Leonard had that All American persona going for him, he won the gold medal, was and is very articulate, had a charming smile (no ****) and was promoted as a smaller version of Ali, to the media and people, he could do no wrong.

Duran claiming to have stomach cramps is believable because there were reports he ballooned up to about 200 pounds in between the first and second fight, I do think he quit out of frustration though.

I didn't even know half this stuff, I wasn't even born yet. But I can kinda see why fighters like Hopkins like to drop Haglers name more then Leonards, Hagler was a beast.

Hagler is considered by many to be the best middleweight of all time and Hopkins probably connected to Hagler more because Hagler fought in Philly a few times before he made it big.

I would say Hagler is considered one of the greatest middleweights of all time but i don't think the majority think he is the greatest. I belive Monzon is usally above Hagler. At least thats how i've heard and read about best middleweights talk about.

It depends on the person you ask, a lot of people believe Hagler is ranked higher than Monzon, me included but it's been subject to a lot of debates.

People loved Leonard then and continued to love him throughout. It didn't really matter what he did in the eyes of the public. Completely different from Floyd.

Monzon was something of a freak. I like Hagler better but I'm a bit in awe of Monzon. His terrible lifestyle (smoking, drinking) which seemed to be unable to dent his enormous stamina, the excessive violence of his character, contrasted with the unassuming normalcy of his style (name a fighter more difficult to identify what exactly set him apart) made for a fighter who is rarely mentioned in discussions but hard to ignore.

I know exactly what you mean, he was so different inside and outside the ring.

Inside the ring, he was calm and methodical, breaking down his opponents and then knocking them out, he never fought emotionally.

Outside the ring, he was a totally different person, a violent emotional person who loved to drink and smoke which should have shown it's effects on him but didn't.

Comeback or not, he still needs to stop acting like a ****ing fool. I can't understand how someone who wants to be respected and liked as much as Mayweather does acts as ****** as he does. I can't imagine what ****ing idiots would respect his current behaviour. I don't give it often (mostly because I think it's silly), but green K to you.
