I do not rate Joppy and Holmes too highly at 160. After they moved down to 154 they didn't impress there either.

Who was the best fighter Hopkins beat during his title reign before Trinidad , a natural welterweight? Robert Allen? Keith Holmes?

The most impressive name on there for me was Glen Johnson at 160 considering how solid Glen was at 168 and 175.

Hopkin's most impressive win is still Felix Trinidad but with 20/20 hindsight not so impressive. 2nd for me is Tarver but that was at 175.

Besides I don't even rate Tarver that highly. See my problem?

The problem is the way Tito won those guys he KOed Joppy.

Oscar should have lost to Strum but there was so much pressure to make the Oscar big.

sometimes if you dont know fighters at certain weight division you cant really judge.

example is the win of Mijares over Kawashima is better than Arce but Arce is more popular.

and another point to demonstrate my view is when Mayweather fought Gatti he wasnt the best but it took him to the top p4p list same with Hopkins Oscar took him top of p4p list. Both fighters are pretty good but sometimes you have to beat some fan fav. to become famous.

Calzaghe fan boys should bring up his name more. I heard them mention Manfredo for god's sake but not mention Byron.

How highly was Byron ranked at the time when Joe beat him? I remember he was up there in the 168 rankings for a long time.
Mitchell was WBA #9 contender at the time of the fight, the reason I know as much as I do is purely down to the fact that Im an avid boxing fan and pay attention. I might not always express myself as well as I should but hey, thats life, Im not just jumping on the bandwagon as a lot of so called fans have, i actually love the sport and watch as much as I possibly can. Its a pleasure to read posts that are informative and in your case you actually admit you have forgotten something, fair play to you mate. Green K on the way.

          1. Mayweather scared of Cotto?

          2. Tua could've beaten Holyfield and Tyson?

How high do you rate tarver?

I think he's good but slightly short of very good.

I'm inclined to rate Glen higher than him.

Mr. Johnson is like the Juan Manuel Marquez of Super Middle and Light Heavy divisions. Some of his losses were between awfully close to downright robberies.

I don't understand the love for Tua. He was being dominated by Rahman until the late hit, Rock wasn't given recovery time, and even THEN the fight was stopped prematurely. No way Tua wins that fight if the rules are followed.

Not to mention, Rock clearly won the rematch and got a draw.

Tua was a very good fighter, but he was never going to beat an elite heavyweight. I guess I could see him beating Mike possibly but no way he beats Holyfield.

                Tarver is a good fighter.

If you are going to say Glen Johnson is the Jaun Marquez of these division I would say Tarver is similar to Barrera with comebacks.

He alway seemed to get his career rhythm back

Maybe too strong a word. Like a said before "wary of" would've probably been better.

Why hasn't Floyd faced Cotto yet?

"Too much risk and not enough money?" can be defined as being wary of or somewhat scared.

No , Mr. Diego. Read it carefully. "In the early 2000's" Tyson and Holyfield wasn't in their primes anymore in the "early 2000's". Tyson and Holyfield had both slowed down a bit. If John Ruiz could do a trilogy with that Holyfield , how would Tua have done against that Holy? How would have Tua had done against the Tyson that fought Danny Williams?

Fair enough. He did win his rematches.

I rate Tarver as very good, and I would put him slightly above Johnson as a fighter. The problem with Tarver is that he feels he is somehow entitled to certain things since he beat RJJ. He needs to just shut his mouth and fight.

You're definitely right about Johnson though, that guy can't win a close decision. I had scored it for Glencoffe in his fight with Dawson.
