I don't mind boxing fans that disagree with me, thats what makes boxing my favorite sport. My logic is that Pavlik is as high as 3 on some of these polls as P4P and rated in the top 7 on most everybody elses ranking for P4P. I rank him #9. Pavlik is very entertaining to watch but Miranda looked strong yet his defense isn't that good. Abraham KO'd him in 4.Styles make fights is boxing 101. What does a fight that he didn't have anything to do with make him seem overrated? Please explain that. Becasue it seems to me that you are saying because Abraham beat him quicker, Pavlik should be diminished. That **** makes no sense. They both knocked him out. Period. End of story. Miranda was not in eithers class. How you make that wild leap of logic i have no clue.

My logic is that I have Pavlik as my #9 P4P fighter other have him in the top 3. Like you said Miranda is not in eithers class so Pavliks KO in 7 doesn't mean that Miranda can't get knocked out because Abraham did it in 4. Maybe my thread should have been where does Kelly Pavlik rank in your P4P rankings. When I post that look at the results and you will see what I mean.

This fight in itself doesn't mean that Pavlik is overrated, but it does strengthen the argument of those who believe he is.

First and foremost the main thing that is supposed to mark Pavlik as out as an incredible force is his power, and the evidence we have of Pavliks power are his KOs of Miranda and Taylor. Abraham just KOd Miranda in even more devastating fashion so suddenly Kelly's power doesn't look quite as amazing and unmatched as it did before.

A second, I think very good reason for thinking that Pavlik might be a bit overrated is the fact that another great part of his game, complimenting his power is supposed to be his incredible stamina and workrate which he uses to break his opponent down to the point that they get KOd or decisioned. Again this is based on his Taylor and Miranda fights. What seldom gets mentioned is that both Miranda and Taylor are notorious for gassing down the stretch. This being so is it not possible that their relative collapses against Pavlik might very well have less to do with him devastatingly breaking them down than the fact they themselves just find it hard to fight effectively for twelve rounds? I think so.

None of this proves anything of course, but if you want a reasonably compelling argument for saying Pavlik might be overrated, that I think is it.

P4P rankings have to do with what a fighter has already ACCOMPLISHED. Not how he looks compared to another boxer. Abraham is just now doing what Pavlik did A YEAR AGO. They don't have anything in common until AA vs. Pavlik.

Why do you care about P4P rankings? I never saw anyone ranking him as high as 3. I have seen a lot of 6 and 7's.

P4P rankings are nothing more than popularity contests anyway. They are garbage. There is no rhyme or reason to them and you will find at least one or two things wrong with every single list some self proclaimed know it all made up.

P4P lists are flawed logic because they are based on opinion.

Pavlik and Abraham are both LEGITIMATE MW Champions. I don't think either fighter is overrated, both are solid fighters with the potential to be great. I cant wait to see them fight a unification bout.

The thread starter needs an education and maybe that's a really good place to start because it shows this logic to be severely flawed.
