Nonetheless, Whitaker did fight a fresher De La Hoya, and Whitaker was also the smaller man, NOT in his prime.
Mayweather got the SD, but A LOT of people think Whitaker got the short end of the stick.
I'm not one of those douche bags who doesn't give Mayweather credit for beating De La Hoya. De La Hoya was ahead on the cards after 5 rounds, so he clearly was able. he just stopped with the jab and got a bit winded.
Interestingly enough, he looked VERY fresh when facing Forbes, who hit him with some decent shots.

He did look fresh when facing forbes.....
But he was easy to hit.....and showed no defense....
He also showed no kind of power...Forbes didnt respect him at all...

If he goes in for the kill, against a guy who doesn't get killed.. He risks missing out on the rematch he thought he had.
The defensive things I think happened later when he opened up. When you look at his face in the 6th or 7th round, he wasn't that beat up. It happened when he pressured himself to end the show. It happens.
For the record, I'd give Cotto credit for beating De La Hoya. Like a give Williams credit for beating Quintana in two tries. Lol.

I wouldnt give Cotto credit....because the Oscar that Forbes looked terrible in my eyes...........borderline shot.
You have to give Williams credit.....he knocked dude out in the first round with time to spare in the round.
Cotto got credit for beating Quitana..same applies for Paul.
