NONE of those fighters do that. Oscar did it in the first half of the fight and it worked VERY WELL. It doesn't need to land every time, to be working.NONE of those fighters do that. ALSO, I'm not a Mayweather hater. I'm just not delusional. Everyone has a weakness, everyone can lose, everyone. EVERYONE.

I never lump into that crowd,i lumped you in with the Jab crowd

So you think mayweather can`t adapt to that

Floyd was dodging the jab and countering it later on.

Pernell Whitaker. He largely dominated better competition and still has the best defense the sport has ever seen, apart from Pep perhaps. He fought everybody win/lose/draw. 5 first ballot hall of fame fighters very close to their best (Oscar and Trinidad will be there soon enough), 6 guys who were considered among the 5-7 best fighters in the world when Pernell faced them. His performances against Nelson and Chavez were better than anything I've seen from Mayweather considering the level of competition.

Floyd still has time to do some great stuff. If he does return from retirement and goes on a successful run against legitimate threats, I could see him on that level. There's no denying he's a great fighter, he's just not as good as Whitaker yet.

It terms of overall skill set, Floyd may be a bit more complete, where Pernell had a better jab, body attack, and defense.

Overall I'd say Mayweather was the better all around fighter but I still say Pound 4 Pount Whitaker would win.

          anyone can lose to anyone.....

whether its a lucky punch, dq, overlooking an opponent, getting robbed.

I dont expect Floyd to be able to beat a 6-4ish.....160 pound..welter who fights southpaw and hits like a truck...do you???
You look aweful man, thats a crazy ass picture,

Pernell put up a better fight than May against Oscar even though Oscar Lost to May

Burner, your a joke.. Watch a Sweat Pea fight and learn.. Prime Pernell would outbox anyone in any era..

I'm glad to see that some people have gotten it right.. Pernell is a better fighter than mayweather will ever be.. He was an entertainer..

Silky smooth combos, head, body, behind the back.. Its an art..

Mayweather, 1-2.. 2 2 2.. yea i get it, a right hand.. thats the majority of his shots.. he has a good left hook but he aint a combination puncher at welter..

Whitaker was far more elusive and fast on his feet than Mayweather was and he definitely moved more. However i believe that Mayweather was quicker than Whitaker.

No offense but you need to revisit Whitaker. Have you even seen him fight? You seem like a fan of Mayweather and thats fine, but watch sweet pea fight before making your decisions.

I think it'd be safe to say that ATLEAST SOME of the people who voted for Mayweather , did so without really getting to know the style of Whitaker.

It has to be the case, with the way they are so dismissive of such a GREAT practitioner of the sweet science.
