Those UFC guys are NOWHERE near the conditioning of a true boxer. All fights usually are stand up fights and I would put Floyd up against any jackass UFC guy within 10-15 lbs of him and I think he would KO the redneck ****

Speaking as someone who has trained a stand-up art in the form of Muay Thai, and grappling in the form of Judo and submission grappling, and having also trained them together in MMA, my personal experience was that sparring stand-up fighting was for me not as tiring or as intense as grappling. Grappling tests your cardio in a different way, it's basically like trying to control the whole of another persons body.

And I also found that when I sparred MMA, mixing striking with takedowns and grappling, it tests your cardio in a completely different way. Learning to adjust for pace changes, trying to decide when to conserve energy, when to explode for takedowns or escapes.

I mean, most fighters in MMA are at some point serious competitors at a high level in one other single art. There are a lot of NCAA wrestlers, a lot of jiujitsu competitors who reach high levels in well respected championships in these arts. There are a good number of former olympians in MMA, are you really saying that none of these fighters are proper atheletes?

As long as these guys are rolling on the floor for so much time, mma will never take over.

Fighters are rolling less and less though. I think it has a lot to do with matchmaking. Dana White and Gary Shaw want to give the broader public entertainment. They don't want no grappler vs striker show unless the grappler wants to trade on his feet.

I understand your points, but I just flat out don't respect it as a sport.
              Boxing is a sport

I did give MMA a chance, I have friends who get the UFC PPV's and the other misc bull****. It seems to me that the only time people get excited and jump around is when the guys are standing up and fighting. You don't get that with MMA very much; it is long drawn out guys dry humping with testicles in each others face for long periods of time.

I don't give a **** what Rogan or anyone says, UFC guys CANNOT **** with well conditioned boxers. That bull**** is marketed to low class rednecks because it is a lowclass sport.
Boxing is the ultimate 1 on 1 test of conditioning and technique. Boxing also more closely resembles a real life fight IMO, not that I use that as a measure of which is better but many do.

Last but not least I think it is very ignorant for anyone to say that boxing is dying out, look at the insane numbers boxing did last year. Those UFC guys fight for dog**** $.

It's either that or strikers have become much better at avoiding takedowns.

These are good examples, although Gomi wasn't on the Japanese olympic boxing team. I've heard he trains with some very good Japanese pros and does well sparring against them though.

I would also like to add some examples of notable accomplishments MMA fighters have had in other sports.

Mark Hunt-K1 World Grand Prix winner
Ricardo Arona-Undefeated in ADCC (world class submission grappler)
Hidehiko Yoshida-Judo Gold Medalist at the olympics
Fedor Emelianenko-World Combat Sambo champion and high ranking competitor in European Judo competitions
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira-Gold at boxing in the South American Games, Bronze at Pan Ams
Roger Gracie-ADCC Absolute Class winner, finished all fights by submission, and Super heavyweight world BJJ champion, one of the best grapplers in the world
Sergei Kharitonov-Russian Championship boxing silver medalist, was invited to the olympics but chose to participate in Prides 2004 Grand Prix instead
Katsuhiko Nagata and Matt Lindland-Greco-Roman Wrestling Silver Medalists
                  Dan Henderson-Olympic competitor at Greco-Roman

I'll say it again **** Joe Rogan... The only way that boxing will die off is when MMA takes over. And it has to be really exciting to take over. And since people hump each other on the ground it will never be exciting.

And btw is bobin and weavin really not effective in a street fight? Come on, most of the guys that start **** never even bothered training anything so theyre just gonna stand up and exchange and they're gonna get killed by a boxer in no time.

I wonder though whu UFC attacks only boxing. They could attack judo, kickboxing and wrestling with the same arguments. Fact is if these sports didn't exist, there would be no MMA.
