Theres no such thing as "PURE SKILL" ..... RAW TALENT yes... pure skill.. no. The day someone is purely skilled is the day we are using more than 20% of our brains.

    LAST POST:

Hmm too many for me to do... but mayweather is still undefeated... Tarver isn't much and Johnson isn't much... Jones is one of my favorite fighters along with myorga,Zab, and mayweather...Jones can still beat tarver and johnson.

    Footmovement I give to mayweather...

Most of those categories worded the way they were are definitely gonna be Roy jones.. power and speed go to jones... Mayweather only looks as fast because of his body movement..which is why i give mayweather the nod in any movement category.

READ THIS:.........Did you understand what i was saying?
everything else i basically jones... except for overall skilled. that would go to mayweather. Mayweather is the most skilled boxer as of yet and i say that confidently. Now the most talented boxer? ... Jones would beat him there.. such as many other boxers would... But mayweather is definitely the most skilled.

Skill? What categories would you place in skill? Just curious.

      This is boxing.

Jones had the better footwork, threw better combinations, was a far better body shot puncher, threw with more power and was unhittable (although the last had much to do with his athletic ability).

Floyd gets the nod for technical skills but he certainly isn't more skilfull. He throws a far better jab and uses a more precise, conventional defense. That's where his advantages end.

actually i think the jab roy used against ruiz is superior to any jab floyd has used... being he has faster hands and is more powerful, it just had more authority...

just because floyd uses it more, doesnt mean its better

Floyd'd footwork is better than Roy's.

No way. I swear Floyd's jab is SO underrated. It is the best in the game IMO - he throws it so well to the head AND body. Just a beautiful jab. He completely dismantled Corrales with it.

Interestingly enough, Jones didn't really use his "athletic ability" or "speed" to beat Ruiz. He simply outboxed him using...skill.

Roy had raw Talent.. you can't teach that... his reflexes and speed are un matched... he could move and hit and hit and move and not be touched. as he did for a round. But Talent and skill are 2 very different things. ROY has a uncanny amount of talent. Thats what he has lived on... you take that away and he would not be able to perform the way he does. But its his ability so theres no point in even imagining Roy jones without it.

What does Floyd have that is Uncanny???? -- Nothing but good work ethic and stamina.... He got that defense from his father/uncles.. That defense can be taught and someone can be that good at it if they practiced the same thing every day from the age of 3 such as Floyd did. His speed is an illusion of his footwork and body movement. He's fast... But not Roy jones behind the back.... uppercut from the floor.. hands wide open hook you still...4 hooks in a row... wind up right hand fast. Roy Jones has a Gift. Floyd doesn't have those same gifts.

So why is floyd so good? Because he has learned and internalized certain things and basics in his mind. Nothing about roy jones is basic... If someone who doesn't have the TALENTS of roy jones trys to fight like him.. THEY will be knocked out by boxers the calibur of which roy jones has fought. point blank.

Skill... Ring generalship. Mayweather knows at every minute exactly where he is and always has room to pivot as soon as he reaches within a few inches to the rope. THAT TAKES skill... of course not knowing where you are with the ropes can lead to being ko'd by the ropes or on the ropes.. and leave you squared trying to evade side ways. NOT good...if your into not getting hit.

Skilled in evading and percision... he is very elusive.. you will be hard pressed to land a good percentage on floyd. he reigns in that category in Boxing as a WHOLE. that means in all of boxing he is the hardest to hit while hitting you and having a great accuracy count as well.

Skilled defense.....We all know his defense... and it is something that can be taught... Will you matser it? Depends how long you practice and how early you can start.. just as floyd learned from his fathers and uncles.

Floyd doesn't have the power with the bigger guys as he did at 130... but its still good. His speed isn't what it was at 130... but its still good...even better when matched against baldo or gatti.

Roy has moved up and down and always kept that blazing speed. and Great reflexes. if he loses that he's not roy "Mr incredible" jones...

Now my last argument... Which of these boxers would you have a easier time imitating and winning fights with their exact style. Given 10 years practice?

Remember you have to use your OWN talents though. ....

anyone understand where im coming from? I tried to explain the best as i could. Its of course all my opinion though.
