A lot of Johnny Come Lately's who caught the tail end of careers should go back and study.
Anyone who listened to Roy Jones commentate on HBO as an analyst knows that he was an INCREDIBLE student of the game. His knowledge was simply unmatched. No surprise - he usually beat his opponents by outsmarting them.
In spite of his obvious mastery of the idiosyncracies of boxing, some people believe he relied on just raw talent, like some #1 draft pick could just crossover to boxing and become a pound for pound talent for over a decade, beat up some of the world's best boxers and accomplish all the other things that Jones did.
NONSENSE.
Jones was an incredibly skilled boxer in his prime - one Bernard Hopkins admits he stole some things from after fighting him. Talent couldn't teach his footwork, ability to anticipate, counterpunch, his combinations, none of that.
People just don't get it.
