Steele isn't perfect.... no ref is. You say "selective discrimination", no fight is identical to the next. You can only hope the ref does proper reffing each time he's in the ring. Further, Hearns' makes eye contact with Steele for a brief second and could very well have been speaking through his mouthpiece. In the case with Taylor, it is clear he says nothing and looks away.Tell you what, watch this clip and tell me when Steele seemed that so concerned when housefighter Tommy Hearns was absolutely out on his feet after a knockdown (at the 7:00 mark). Steele didn't even give him a second look. I believe that is called "selective discrimination".

That I don't see all this pro-King bias by Steele.
Duva's a liar though. HBO showed him blatantly lying when he claimed he told Taylor to stay away and dance. They showed footage of him and Benton saying the fight was going to be decided by the 12th round and he needed the round big.
Still, his most entertaining lie is claiming he went after Roger Mayweather to "break up the fight" during the Pazienza fight.Comment

Hearns was wobbling badly and didn't even have his mouthpiece in. You heard Gil Clancy say it seemed like a long count. Hearns was in worse shape than Taylor was, except that fight wasn't seconds from being over. Both are cases of a shady referee giving the benefit to the house fighter. It's like they say in baseball, if you're going to have a wide strike zone, make sure it's for both teams.Steele isn't perfect.... no ref is. Being hurt isn't the point, strangely enough. Taylor didn't respond.... he has to. It's as simple as that. You can try to make as many bull **** posts about it or try to claim Steele was bias.... but Steele did his job and Taylor didn't. Now, given the shape Taylor was in compared to Hearns, if he had nodded his head yes or responded and Steele then chose to stop the fight, then you'd be on to something.Hearns was wobbling badly and didn't even have his mouthpiece in. It seemed obvious to me that Taylor was responding to his idiot trainer who had caught his attention. I've seen countless fighters in worse shape be allowed to continue, except they weren't seconds away from victory.Comment

I think you said it all before.
Would you put a mans life on the line after seeing him take brutal punishment for 36 minutes, fall to the ground after his own shot missed, seeing the blood coming out of his mouth, face swelling up and then getting knocked down and refusing to answer a simple question? You would really do that?Comment

As much as you lost a ****load of money that night. And being a fan of Chavez, I also recall the night Pernell Whitaker gave him the boxing lesson of his life. So miss me with that biased ****.
Looking objectively however, Steeles job isn't as timekeeper, rather his job is to make sure the fight ends safely.Comment
