    TWO reasons

    1. Taylor looked at Duva instead of the ref

    2. Steele was DK ref

If one of these was not the case, there would have been no stoppage. Another ref would not have stopped it, Steele needed something to hang his hat on.

You don't know that for a fact. Mills Lane stopped the rematch. Did he need something to hang his hat on?

I don't really see this history of Steele being so pro-Don King.

One year later, Steele made a poor choice in stopping Tyson-Ruddock I too soon. But he also deducted 2 points from Chavez against Randall for low blows in 1994, and that was the difference in the judges' decision. Steele let Taylor get away with a lot of low or borderline shots on Chavez.

The only other case I can think of was Steele not doing anything when Tyson hit Bruno when he was down (an often overlooked foul), but he Bruno did his share of fouling too and hit Tyson with countless rabbit punchers before he finally did something about it.

Tell you what, watch this clip and tell me when Steele seemed that so concerned when housefighter Tommy Hearns was absolutely out on his feet after a knockdown (at the 7:00 mark). Steele didn't even give him a second look. I believe that is called "selective discrimination".

But that's not just from the Chavez fight. That's from all the punishment he took throughout his career, and most likely in the gym as well, as Philly is known for intense sparring sessions.

Taylor was still a good fighter after the Chavez fight, even if he wasn't the same. He was good enough to move up in weight and beat an undefeated champ in Aaron Davis.

Taylor's team made a poor choice in letting Taylor fight Terry Norris. That was a bad move by the management.

Basically you are mentioning 1.5 calls pro king fighter (stoppages) and 1 against (points, a bit different). not much of a point.

Plus, Duva said he did not want Steele to begin with, there must have been a reason for that, no?
