Chavez vs. Taylor I...why did Steele stop the fight!?!?!

Just last weekend, I had breakfast with the fam, and this fight came up. With only 2 seconds left, WHY DID STEELE stop the fight?

Help me with this one NSB...

Because Taylor didn't respond to his questions. He was too busy looking at Lou Duva on the ring apron.

If people watch the fight with the commentary off..you can clearly see that Taylor couldnt afford to take another right hand like that..It sucks that it happened with :02 seconds left..it really does.

Steele also thought Taylor wasnt ful;ly recovered because he didnt speak back to him.

all it takes is one punch to truly **** up someone's life. a referee shouldn't have the mindstate of "ill give him a couple of more seconds" because anything can happen during those couple of seconds.

Steele asked him 2 times, "are you ok". Taylor failed to answer. Its quite simple really.

Exactly, look at what the rematch did.

Richard Steele basically said it's wasn't his job to be timekeeper.

We really went over this here extensively a few months ago and I said plenty. It's something that still gets me upset because it cost me a lot of money, and it was just plain wrong. My opinion is that Steele was a corrupt ref who was protecting Don King's fighter. I just don't feel like going toe to toe again with everyone who disagrees.
