Most mainstream newspapers don't even cover boxing unless its a delahoya fight pacman fight mayweather fight and a few others. Sorry man but america loves violence and mma is catching on quick here.
Nope. I live in the UK so I have no clue what you guys are into. Honestly find it very surprising that MMA is able to get that sort of coverage.

It wories me because it is a fact that anything that catches on in American culture in a big way tends to spread through other western countries too.

The exception to this so far has been US sports, and no disrespect, but I don't like MMA, so I hope it stays that way.

The thing about UFC is everyone fights the best fighters, Champ Vs Champ nobody ducks anybody there they all fight the best and get alike 300k a fight (main event)

Boxing is become more of a business, fighting for money

I dotn really like the mma either. But i did enjoy the fights they had on saturday. And reality is if it's on network television where anyone can just flip through the channels and get attracted by it it's going to gain steam. There was about 2 or 3 people in my living room that never have heard of kimbo before or any of the other fighters on the card but they seem eager to watch it and they all enjoyed it. Hopefully this cotto/marg fight does good and gets the attention it deserves. Cause chances are Floyd/dlh II is going to be promoted like crazy get all the casuals to buy it only to get dissapointed again by a boring performance and have them base all of boxing on that one fight they purchased not knowing they've missed out on great fights the past two years.

If MMA was on UK free to air TV at any time other than late at night there would be some sort of outcry in our newspapers about the di****able violence corrupting our youth, so frankly i think we're safe from it as a mainstream sport.

Never have they talked about boxing like this. All the casual fans loved it. The Faber fight last night was a big hit, but yet we were stuck with sorry ass Hatton and weak ass Paulie. Thats not the way to hype up boxing. I mean all i have been hearing every where I go wwas about Kimbo and the other fights. Damn, boxing needs to step it up and put some major fighters no Saturday nights or something. I never thought I would see the day, Boxing, PLEASE DONT LET THIS BULL**** TAKE OVER......PLEASE!!!!!!
I think boxing will still be around as well as MMA. Boxing really needs to work on the promotion of new and rising talent as well as the way they promote their events. That's what's really hurting them right now.

Also remember that the martial arts community sees this as a viable way not only to make a steady income, but a way to promote their styles and schools as well. So what the fanbase looks like is not only MMA fans, but wrestling fans, judo fans, karate fans, tkd fans, etc. etc.

I don’t hate MMA but I don’t really watch it either. Having said that boxing has been around a long time and MMA has a ways to go before it can overtake it.

MMA is just the hot topic of sports talk radio right now because it was the first time an MMA show was on network television.

I don't really care if it is or not. I wouldn't be suprised if pro 'wrasslin is ahead of boxing but what difference does that make? The fact is that boxing fans aren't switching over. At the very worst some people like both but I've never heard of someone completely ditching boxing for MMA unless they weren't really a fan of boxing to begin with.

I'm more concerned with quality over quantity. I'd rather boxing consist of a small group who for the most part loyal, knowledgeable fans instead of attracting a mainstream audience who really does nothing in terms of making it a better sport.

No offense or anything, but I the reason for this is that the UK doesn't have much of a grappling community. If you had some popular form of grappling, the bloodsport aspect of newspapers would die down a bit.
