That's not exactly so. And on the other hand that's pretty accurate. But understand that's the only way to keep it a sport. Saying a fighter should choose who he fights and discussing purses weighting public sympathy to add to the purse is basically what screwed up boxing in the first place. Because popular fighters aren't always the best you know.
Man, Im sorry, I hate MMA but...............

I was just kidding around, but basically I guess I just don't find it as entertaining to watch. Grappling type sports don't seem to have the same drama as boxing for me and I suspect that to appreciate it properly you have to have a proper technical understanding of what, as you say, is a very technical sport.Comment

Being a fight fan I really enjoy both a lot, and I feel they compliment each other. MMA often fills my void on the weekends boxing is off air.
I watched MMA since UFC 1 and was just amazed at the skill Royce Gracie displayed. He was the smallest guy in their but his skill over powered their size.
I believe MMA on prime time TV opens doors for boxing to come back to the mainstream. I think the reason UFC did not want to sign with CBS is because Dana is a control freak. Dana would never allow CBS to call a UFC event "Saturday Night Fights". Being that Shaw also promotes boxing CBS intentionally left the door open to hosting a big boxing card by giving there show a generic name like "Saturday Night Fights".
MMA doesn't hurt boxing, boxing hurts boxing!Comment
