You know what? its prolly better that we accept the fact that Boxing is more like that golden age of Hip Hop and underground Hip Hop where as MMA is more of the mainstream Rap with not as much substance. We know whats better.

Alot of you assume that boxers pick their fights. in many ways, they dont, and ill tell you why. Advisors for these boxers, along with network excecutives and promoters organize what they feel is best for the fighter in many instances. I honestly would bet money, that advisors, plus HBO felt that de la hoya fighting mayweather again would generate interest as well as money for both fighters and the network. Al Haymon advises mayweather and golden boy is in deep with HBO, after reading that long article on how they do buisness, i now know and feel advisors and network heads have alot of say in what fights get made and when. Alot of the blame naturally goes on floyd mayweather, but i think while he is to blame, there is a bigger picture of promoters, PPV revenue and network excecutives calling the shots more than the fighters do.

I garuntee you if Cotto was promoted by golden boy, we would be seeing mayweather/cotto this month instead of margarito. Networks act in the best interest of the promoters who supply them their fighters.

thats the problem with boxing, the biggest stars, the stars that casual fans know, dont want to look bad or challenge themselves in the limelight anymore. thats the MAIN reason boxing is in a decline.

Cotto took on gomez for an easy fight, but look who he's taking on now? He's fighting who is thought to be one of his bigest threats int he WW division. ANOTHER top 10 ranked WW. And he's gonna fight a 3rd time too.

But then there are other more popular fighters who are ****ing over the sport with their egos. Winky wright is pricing himself to high. Who else is there? Just Floyd and thats it. Floyd doesn't want to make exciting fights happen because it wont be a positive on his check book.

and you know who's also at fault? US! WE are at fault to for allowing this bull**** to happen in the first place. We rather debate and gloat about how much money our fighters have than gloat about how much HEART they have.

We want our favorite fighters to pad their records with easy wins so that we can say, "YEAH WILL MY FAVORITE FIGHTER IS UNDEFEATED AND YOURS ISNT HAHAHA FLASHY!!"

How can someone say that this type of behavior from the fighters and the fans isnt hurting the sport? How? Why the **** are we going to ***** about MMA taking our shine when we KNOW what the problem is and its staring right at us?

But you have your posters like Bhopreign and Flawless that want to tolerate this "business minded" bull**** and support fighters who would rather hustle Bhopreign and Flawless into buying a PPV circus act rather than buy a PPV Prize fight.

bitching about MMA isn't going to do anything because the promoters and CEO's are doing exactly what Boxing promoters and fighters should be doing. The real cuplrits of this **** are the fighters and promoters like De La Hoya, Hatton, Mayweather and fans like we got here on Boxingscene.
        plain and basic common sense

Really? Do Mr. and Mrs. Joe Blow and the Blow children really find MMA acceptable in the US? If so I'm surprised!

How about the mainstream newspapers, do they cover it in their sports pages?

If so then I am even more surprised!

They need to put more fights on a card.
Like Hopkins and Joe or ODLH vs Forbes.
Then when there is a ajor card, there is only one major fight. The others are crap. Lacy vs PM, REALLY!!?? **** That. There needs to be more than one big fight on a PPV card. And dont use PPV to gain an audience for some one like Abner Mares.
Put him on national TV vs someone and build a fan base like that. Or Khan against a decent fighter on ABC or something. They will get a fan base that way. Imagine Sat. night fights on NBC. And NBC has more money than HBO and ShowTime combined. I dont care if it doesnt hit, just at least put forth an effort to try something.

More good **** homey. It's odd how PBF stans declare he's savin boxing and re-creating more interest in the sport wit all his extra-curricular ****. All he's doin is alienating people by not fightin the guys he should fight. Boxing not gettin its props ain't all his fault but he mos def ain't savin jackin ****.

Like some have said already, mma promotes brand 1st. Dana White will force champs into fighting top contenders instead of a don king who will put on a mismatch just to pad his own pocket, not because its good for the sport.

MMA is nothing in Britain. They held a UFC thingy in Newcastle and it may aswell have been the buckaroo championships, nobody cared.

your wrong dana white is as greedy as any other rich person making money of people. His fighters are very underpaid. Dana white has his favorites and shines the people he doesnt like. UFC promotes the name UFC but why??? who does that benifit??? DANA WHITE. Dana white is the UFC. he is Don King only he is the only Don King in MMA he controls everything and everything he does including promoting ufc's name is done because he is the UFC. In boxing everyone has their own team. and it's your promoters job to promote you to make the most money possible for the camp. In ufc you fight who dana white says you fight and for the money he says your going to fight at. You really have no say. Dana White to you might seem like "oh he promotes the name UFC" but UFC is dana white. Ask any MMA fan that follows the UFC. they will tell you the same thing.
