Man, Im sorry, I hate MMA but...............

I think it's gonna surpass boxing. I hate MMA and it hurts me to say it, but I think it is. I was listening to sports radio today, and they wuoldnt stop talking about the Kimbo fight and undercard, and the fights last night on VS.
Never have they talked about boxing like this. All the casual fans loved it. The Faber fight last night was a big hit, but yet we were stuck with sorry ass Hatton and weak ass Paulie. Thats not the way to hype up boxing. I mean all i have been hearing every where I go wwas about Kimbo and the other fights. Damn, boxing needs to step it up and put some major fighters no Saturday nights or something. I never thought I would see the day, Boxing, PLEASE DONT LET THIS BULL**** TAKE OVER......PLEASE!!!!!!

It will never completely take over boxing. Boxing has been around for centuries.

I don't know how you can hate MMA if you like boxing/?? Some of they fighters are extremely skilled and fun to watch!

If you think MMA guys are a bunch of street brawlers, watch Anderson Silva, Lyota Machuda and/or Georges St. Pierre. These guys are technicians of the game!

I do agree with you in that boxing needs to step it up to get more appeal. They need to have something on regular network TV just like the free MMA fights the other night on CBS. That was a huge step for MMA in gaining publicity.

^^^ Agreed, I don't think MMA will ever reach the status of Boxing, but it is growing in popularity. I just dont think it has the beauty & technical appeal boxing holds. Personally I think it is mostly boring, but I heard the Kimbo fight wasn't all that impressive & it was a bad stoppage.

I feel the same way man. I had a pool party saturday and everyone was wanting to watch the mma fights with kimbo. And i was one of them. And it being free on network television will make it very easy for people to watch and catch on. i have to admit im not a big fan of mma but saturday had some great fights and i found myself along with everyone else pretty excited during the action taking place. Boxing has been destroyed by the promoters (gbp cough cough) and fighters (floyd cough cough). It's sad but a reality boxing is losing the mainstream light to mma.

you know what fights should be made that would bring back boxing but the "face of boxing" would rather take on fighters he's defeated already rather than the best possible fight there is.

thats the problem with boxing, the biggest stars, the stars that casual fans know, dont want to look bad or challenge themselves in the limelight anymore. thats the MAIN reason boxing is in a decline.

Cotto took on gomez for an easy fight, but look who he's taking on now? He's fighting who is thought to be one of his bigest threats int he WW division. ANOTHER top 10 ranked WW. And he's gonna fight a 3rd time too.

But then there are other more popular fighters who are ****ing over the sport with their egos. Winky wright is pricing himself to high. Who else is there? Just Floyd and thats it. Floyd doesn't want to make exciting fights happen because it wont be a positive on his check book.

and you know who's also at fault? US! WE are at fault to for allowing this bull**** to happen in the first place. We rather debate and gloat about how much money our fighters have than gloat about how much HEART they have.

We want our favorite fighters to pad their records with easy wins so that we can say, "YEAH WILL MY FAVORITE FIGHTER IS UNDEFEATED AND YOURS ISNT HAHAHA FLASHY!!"

How can someone say that this type of behavior from the fighters and the fans isnt hurting the sport? How? Why the **** are we going to ***** about MMA taking our shine when we KNOW what the problem is and its staring right at us?

But you have your posters like Bhopreign and Flawless that want to tolerate this "business minded" bull**** and support fighters who would rather hustle Bhopreign and Flawless into buying a PPV circus act rather than buy a PPV Prize fight.

bitching about MMA isn't going to do anything because the promoters and CEO's are doing exactly what Boxing promoters and fighters should be doing. The real cuplrits of this **** are the fighters and promoters like De La Hoya, Hatton, Mayweather and fans like we got here on Boxingscene.

you are correct and the reason is because of the fan base...They were able to Reach the WHITE MARKET!

You see the MMA events? 95 percent White people in the audience...they have like 15,000-20,000 people in the arena and they are ALL white!

Boxing is dying because they lackt he Mainstream white audience and if it aint White it aint Right.

I just dont see the art of street fighting. I find it equivalent to dog fighting. Put 2 crazy beings, whether its dogs or humans, and let them fight until near death. come on. I will admit that I watch it and there have been some good fights, but as a whole its ridiculous. Hoew can you say your an elite athlete and be dying for air and huffing and puffing mid way through the 2nd round. Thats only 7 1/2 minutes!!! I dont know, I some what like it, but its the same way I like watching street fights and one hitter quitters on youtube. Boxing is technical and smarts. MMA is ******ity and hard heads.
