    Why isn't he the greatest?

SRR has a lot of losses. What he beats Floyd for in attack, Floyd makes up the difference with his defensive skills!

1 loss in his first 130 fights. Most of his losses came past his prime.

Sadly this is why Floyd will never be a top ATG.
Skilled as all hell. Fantastic fighter. BUT....
The greats mentioned (Leonard, Hearns, Duran stc) didn't step up in weight and fight a fighter just to tick a weight class box. They stepped up to kill a giant.
The equivalent of Duran going for Leonard or Hearns taking on Hagler could only be paralleled by Mayweather going for Pavlik.
Pavlik is King at his weight. He is not A. N. Other beltholder. Even Winky (few years ago) would be a giant to slay.
As it stands Floyd has made himself an obvious HOFer.
Sadly he does not have the desire to be G.O.T status. He has achieved what he wants to achieve and that is fine. Don't be fooled though. He knows very well what his status will be down the years. He talks a lot but has settled ,yes settled, for remaining unbeaten by good fighters.
It was in him to be in the pantheon of Greats.
Good job 'lifestyle flashy'. You got what you wanted. Us fans didn't.

              And there his biggest challenges.

              That shows his greatness.

              Well to me it does?

Good post, but I feel the need to point out that Kelly Pavlik is no Marvin Hagler!

Also think you're a little too generous to yesterday's 'greats' I don't think Ray Leonard truly wanted to 'kill a giant' when he took on Hagler, I think he wanted a giant amount of money. The giant killing was just a happy byproduct.

Mayweather does not need to fight Pavlik to prove his greatness.

That is an argument, that says, "Mayweather has to do the impossible". he doesn't.

hes already there on my list.

He should prove it in the ring.

He doesn't. He IS a great boxer, but if he wants to remembered as one of say the best 5 of all time, he will have to do something pretty incredible. MORE incredible than beating Pavlik, I would say, and thats without even considering whether Mayweather could actually fight at 160.
