Mayweather is what's wrong with boxing...

I've never liked Mayweather but disrespecting The Great Sugar Ray is beyond classless! Sugar and other greats like him fought everybody! There are still fighters with that mentality in the ww division and 2 are fighting this July! Like many of the previous posts state, boxing doesn't need Mayweather and I could care less what "big fights" he tries to make.

Floyd is going to fight Oscar in September to make money off of him while he's still around, then fight the winner of Cotto/Margarito in 2009 in another mega fight.

People said Mayweather was scared to fight Hatton and he ducked Hatton at 140 and then it happened. Mayweather is going to fight Cotto if he wins in July if he's this so called business man, because that is higly demanded fight which can expand his fame and money more. Mayweather is drawing more ppl in for his future bout by saying he isn't worried about Cotto because everyone is gonna buy it to see him lose which is a smart business decision.

Boxers should think that they are the best or why else should they step into the ring... to be second best??? If someone is the best is a bias decision. You think he's the best and you now disrespecting Floyd's opinion (classless)!!!

Alright lets try to put it another way so that your ppl can understand how great, how heroic everybody is expect for Floyd.

Lets paint a scenario: Miguel Cotto or Shane Mosley or whatever fighter you want to name that you respect are at the top right now. Undefeated everybody is buzzing around them etc. And now they have from 2 matches to choose... do they fight Margarito (somebody who's respected amongs boxing pundits but who nobody knows outside of boxing) or do you fight Oscar de la Hoya. The cash cow. The golden boy. The hall of famer who also happens to be past his prime. I know Cotto would choose Margarito... you really must be dreamin'!!! If Cotto could choose DLH you know what for a fight we would see July. Even Shane Mosley would fight DLH right now if he gets another shot. Like I said, hypocrite. If other fighters would get that chance to fight DLH or a meaningful fight for the legacy !!!!!!!!!EVERYBODY!!!!!!!! would take DLH. They don't get a chance so they can't. But Floyd can!!!

That's probably the best way to describe it: Other fighters can't. Floyd can!!!

because he knows he can beat him disgusting! cotto is the real man because he fights whoever
Yep cotto fights great guys like Gomez, if that was floyd, mosley or **** even Judah there would have been a downpour of abuse about the fight, but cos its cotto the "man to beat" its all good, floyd should call the shots all the big names in boxing got to do it, Oscar does it always has, Hopkins fights who he wants everyone that big name and paid their dues fight who they want

I tend to not take fighters' **** about not fighting guys seriously.

De La Hoya said he wouldn't fight Vargas, Mosley, and Mayweather. Mayweather has claimed he wouldn't fight again. Dempsey said he wouldn't fight a "colored" challenger, but he did actually sign to fight Wills late in his title reign.

When Cotto's the best deal out there for Mayweather, and he turns down the contract, then I'll get concerned.

I think Mayweather looking to fight Cotto right now would probably have just led us to Cotto-De La Hoya.

A: like ray did? B: or run away like some has been ***** like nasseem hamed?
ANSWER: probably the latter as the respect and lack of proffesionalism in the sport that you continue to diss and use as a means to become a rich *****!
just like my countryman hamed, whats down the line ? prison?
walkin around like mr fkin invincible just makes people go off him.
ive watched p.b.f since he beat manfredy and even then i thought the money that is coming will go to his head.
hes turned into a right wanker, a master of defence, good speed but thats it.
ray robinson had it all and did it as floyds sayin about himself " without thinking".
outside the ring he conducted himself with grace and respect to all man.

i do put floyd in the top twenty of all time but not the best, LOOOONG WAY OFF YET.
let us not be convinced that 39/0 means the greatest!
when he gets to 50/60 and 0 maybe.....further up the list depending on who hes fighting and at what weight catagory.

ok, heres my pick on who will lick floyd.
firstly and its his mandatory defence: andre berto....yeah i think he would.
paul williams has a chance, cotto also has the brute force to bully him for real.
r.h plz dont ricky. o.d.l.h. possibly in the return but oscar needs to be swinging the whole time and keep throwing.

heres my outsider...........edwin valero to knock him out in the first round!!!!
                  ya never know.......

Yeah Robinson was real respectful when he was beating up his wife and kids.

When he snubbed Carmen Basilio in front of a crowd full of people.

Hell, Basilio said "when he died, I'm not gonna lie, I could give a ****. He was the most arrogant man in the world".

Sugar Ray Robinson was a bigger ******* than floyd, easily, dude would not show up to fights if the money wasnt right at the last minute. He was extremely picky when it came to his money and how he was paid, he abused the people around him, and his arrogance was far worse than floyds, if you know Robinsons life, than you know he was a selfish person whos personal demons clearly got the best of him.

Floyd's Comment on Sugar Ray Robinson...

Floyd Mayweather Jr. comment about Sugar Ray Robinson's not being undefeated was ridiculous!!! First of all, Pretty Boy Floyd doesn't hold a candle not only to Ray Robinson but Ray Leonard for that matter either!!

The Reason why legends like Leonard, Hagler,Duran, Hearns & others were so great was the fact that they could do it all, box, slug, knock ppl out & take punishment well...Floyd is AFRAID to mix it up? Nobody even knows what kind of chin he's got yet, and he just prefers to flutter around the ring only doing what he has to do to survive or win the fight without taking any form of risk? How the hell can Mayweather have any kind of nerve to even try & convince any true boxing fan that he's even in the same class or catagory as a Ray Robinson or Ray Leonard or an of those guy's?

I admit, talent is talent, and Mayweather has skill no doubt about it..but when he starts comparing himself to these legends like Sugar Ray Robinson & others..I have to laugh..those guys were warriors of the ring..Floyd is FAR from being any form of warrior!!!

He's just another flashy boxer with a big mouth until someone shuts it for him when or if Floyd EVER decides to excite the fans & actually FIGHT someone...

Not, prance around the ring & play it safe all the time? Do you even think for one second that a prime Sugar Ray Leonard would let Carlos Baldomir go the distance with him? Not likely..Ray Leonard would've blitzed 'em outta there as soon as he knew he could..that's the sign of a true blue warrior...not some fake-ass wanna-be self-proclaimed legend like Floyd..he's good, but certainly not one of the all-time greats..not yet anyhow?
