You were trying to compare Cotto's last fight to that of Floyd's, when in reality, Cotto's fight held no signifigance in the boxing world. I dont know not one person who actually gives Cotto a pat on the back for fighting Gomez.

Is that why you lol at Floyd's fight with Hatton yet gave a reason as to why Cotto fought Gomez? If anything it should be the other way around.

of course all hardcore fans want to see floyd/cotto, but it ain't happening until cotto breaks into the bigger market of casual boxing fans.

What Cotto needs to do is start demolishing every welterweight out there to get the attention he wants. Cotto needed to destroy Mosley, but he ran in the last couple of rounds and got the decision... I think ultimately that hurt Cotto's box office appeal (not his appeal with Puerto Ricans though).

Cotto needs to destroy Margarito, and if he can't get a fight with Floyd he needs to destroy Williams, Clottey, and any other contenders at 147 and if he still can't get floyd he needs to start destroying 154 lbers.

That said, I don't think Cotto will destroy Margarito, but clearly outbox and outpoint Margarito. I'd be surprised if Cotto went toe to toe with Margarito, and if he did that's probably 2-4 years off Cotto's shelf life.

But Cotto needs some Vasquez/Marquez type epic wars to elevate his name among casual fans.

I'll make this as simple as possible for the illiterate like you. A poster was trying to bash Cotto and big up Floyd by comparing both of thier last fights. Im only pointing out that it is an unfair comparison, being that Cotto's fight against Gomez was only a "stay busy" fight while he awaited the winner of Cintron/Margarito. I was never happy with Arum's and HBO's decsion to approve such a fight, and i never once made it out to be anything of signifigance. Why dont u point out how Cotto is now scheduled to fight someone that Floyd publically ducked, while Floyd is looking for second servings of Oscar and Hatton.
