I have a pretty strong feeling that that happens as well.

and the real problem is that if a person already made up their mind on who won the fight before they see it, if they actually do end up seeing it they arent going to score fairly. If someone starts watching the fight with the idea that Castillo 'landed 100 more punches than Mayweather', then thats what theyre gonna end up seeing.

I score a lot for body shots, at least above average I would think...so thats probebly one of the reasons I gave some of the close ronds to Castillo.

Pretty funny. Drakulich tells the fighters to calm down and Merchant, enraged, responds: "Calm down?! You calm down! No one paid to see this referee." Merchant sounded, as usual, drunk as hell.
I'm sorry, but if you didn't score it round by round, you are in no position to say who did enough to win. If you don't keep track of the round by round tally, then you are obviously going to be more persuaded by who does better at the end of the fight. It is going to be fresher in your mind.

Did you think Margarito did enough to pull it out against Williams too?

Well I have. Several times. Each time for Floyd. The OP can't score fights and I suspect he hasn't actually even tried to score this fight round by round. Not that he'd know how to even if he did since he thinks "activity" = winning a round.

I figured this out in 2005.

Does every close fight need to have 5,000 threads dis*****g who won? The only reason this even gets brought up is because people want to hate on Mayweather, but I don't think there's a fighter out there who hasn't won a controversial decision so why do we need to even discuss this fight from several YEARS and weight classes ago.

That's where the problem begins. If you WANT someone to win a bout you will try to fool yourself into finding ways to score rounds for them. You can tell it's bull**** when ALL OF A SUDDEN people want to agree with Harold Lederman?!? Since WHEN do people do that.

I recall keeping some kind of mental tally and having JL nick the decision, but I can't remember exact scoring. It's not among my top priorities to sit with a biro and pointlessly jot down the round-by-round scoring six years on from the actual fight, my time is too precious for that. That said, I feel JL outhustled him overall, Floyd was uncomfortable in there. And I dont get persuaded by late-rounds either, for me the so-called championship rounds mean no more or less than the early rounds, I can be analytical in that

I haven't seen the fight but I voted for Castillo because Floyd is ducking Cotto and Cortez was biased against Hatton.

(that's a joke, by the way)

Here we go again, I don't even bother debating this anymore. I just post my scorecard:

                      Round 1 - Floyd 10-9
                      Round 2 - Floyd 10-9
                      Round 3 - Floyd 10-9
                      Round 4 - Castillo 9-10
                      Round 5 - Floyd 10-9
                      Round 6 - Castillo 9-10
                      Round 7 - Castillo 9-10
Round 8 - Floyd 10-8 - Ref took away point from Castillo and Floyd was winning the Round.

                      Round 9 - Floyd 10-9
Round 10 - 9-9 - Ref took away point from Floyd and it was his best round of the fight.
Round 11 - Castillo 9-10 - Floyd stood right in front of him and they traded body shots. Castillo got the better of it.

Round 12 - Castillo 9-10 Castillo's most active round. He threw alot of combinations. His best round.

                      TOTAL = 114-112

                      6 rounds to 5 and 1 even.

                      Winner - Floyd Mayweather
