Oh just checking. I must've had this Mikkel Kessler confused with some other all time great world beater.

If Calzaghe retired today he wouldn't even be a Top 25 fighter from the last 30 years...thats how much of a joke his career is

        • Calzaghe beat hopkins....hopkins beat wright.....

winky beating up on a damaged outsized trinidad doesn't mean much more than hatton beating up on castillo. The mosley wins are bigger than the win over kessler but not enough to make up for the above.

you don't seem to count losses against fighters then? Hey lets get winky and joe in the ring now. They fight at the same weight and are the same age. I know who I'd pick.

calzaghe's biggest win is against a 44 year old hopkins who he barely got past...now tell me who is hopkin's biggest win? the outsized trinidad...im sorry but im not sure if your convincing us or yourself that calzaghe has done more in boxing than winky

            • If you want to play the "who has he beat?" card with Calzaghe or Kessler or anyone else than that's fair enough, it should be taken into account when judging someone's career. But I don't agree with those in this thread who seem to think that it's the only way to judge a fighter.

The fact is that Mike Tyson's best wins were against Larry Holmes, who was past his best, coming off two defeats and had been inactive for two years, and Spinks, whose qualities as a heavyweight are debateable, even if he was an excellent light-heavyweight.

Larry Holmes' best win? Shavers? A narrow win over an old Ken Norton who was KO'd inside a round on more than one occassion?

Holmes and Tyson should be ranked above Calzaghe, but I arrive at that judgment by viewing their performances, not just a list of their opponents.

People like Xplosivo have no problem rating Tyson or Holmes as all time greats, and would never say "who has he beat?", yet when it comes to Calzaghe they act as if that's the only criteria worth considering.

Calz is a very good boxer. Obviously by his record and dominance.

However he has not done the things that are needed to be in the top 25 ATG of the last 30 years list. Sin covered it really well in another thread.

I've already listed the fighters that I would rate him above: Castillo, Tszyu, Cotto, JMM, Foreman and Wright.

I personally think that Calzaghe is/was a better fighter than Trinidad, but Trinidad achieved more and I have no problem with anyone who rates Trinidad higher.

You do realise how ignorant and ****** you look putting Calzaghe over Foreman....Foreman is rated as the top five heavyweights in the all time list, and HEAVYWEIGHT...not same crappy division that was made a few decades ago...ofcourse sheikha, manfredo and pudwill are better than frazier, norton and moorer :rolleyes
