Your telling me Calzaghe/pavlik is more anticipated by the public than cotto/margarito??
Oh and by the way, Calzaghe had over 50,000 fans packed into a stadium to see him fight Kessler and 35,000 for the fight with Manfredo so don't tell me he can't draw. Margarito couldn't get that many people into a stadium if he payed them!

You're right.... we don't care about the fighter, but we care about our fighters. We'll chant USA, USA, USA while trying to take out their best fighter. How is this hard for you to understand? It's not about US or the UK hating on eachother, but pumping themselves up. They might not be as inflamed or impassioned as the PR vs Mexico rivalry, but there's simply a much larger group that it appeals to that take up an interest in it.

Why don't you tell me how well they did and while you're at it remind me of what Tito has to do with this because apart from being Puerto Rican he has no relevance to this discussion and was significantly more famous than Cotto or the Mexican.

Pavlik's first PPV outing versus an established and well known Jermaine Taylor yielded disappointing PPV results. Calzaghe engaged in one of the lowest rated HBO fights in history with Kessler and the demand for Calzaghe/Hopkins was not enough for it to land on PPV. It also had a slow start in ticket sales. Pavlik/Calzaghe insn't as attractive to the general public as Cotto vs. Margarito regardless of the nationalistic implications. Lets be real here.

Kessler earned more from that fight than Margarito will earn from this so it is a very good choice.

He was commenting on your choice to use that fight as an example.

I can understand what you are sayin. Your describing how you guys cheer doing a fight. That has nothing to do with the anticipation. The same reasons you mentioned that make pr vs mexico what it is, is the same reason why people anticipate and watch their fights
