sorry, but i completely disagree with you. the fight did well because it was promoted well. casual fans of today dont follow boxers like you are claiming. they get sold a "big fight", they'll buy the fight. its as simple as that. casual fans werent anticipating hatton/mayweather until the press machine started rolling. the difference between an anticipated fight and a promoted fight.

a us vs uk will get a bigger draw? please give me an example of a uk vs us matchup that people died to see and had tremendous ppv....i dare mention hopkins vs calzaghe lmao!! Floyd vs hatton had good numbers but that had to do with hatton's large following (that calzaghe doesnt come close to in comparison) and floyd being floyd and the #1 ppv fighter in the world. so please tell me what us vs uk fights make you say all this crap. mexico vs puerto rico has been a rivalry that people pay huge numbers to see. In one year you have hatton and calzaghe fight big names and now you consider it a rivalry?? Mexico vs US is a bigger rivalry then uk vs us.

Americans don't care much about UK fighters, you're right... but people living in the UK do. There were like 1.2 million buys for Hatton-Mayweather in the UK alone, which was more than there were in the US. While Hatton does have a bigger base than Calzaghe, his is still very large and growing.
