  • Is it true that Kball picked Manfredo to beat Calzaghe?

    • You people are relentless and never admit you're wrong.

Jermain Taylor could fight Calzaghe ten times and never win a single round on a single scorecard.

        I was EXpECTING a semi-early KO, but i underestimated OUMA's chin at 160 pounds.

With that said, i thought Taylor did fairly well. He could be in some GREAT fights if he'd stob unneccisarily clinching. Id rather have 2 guys stand across from eachother doing nothing, then clinching...

BUT, Taylor is extremely talented at what he does. He manages to generate a lot of power going backwards and can fight off the ropes and in the center of the ring.

I was more impressed with OUMA then UNIMpRESSED with Taylor.

BUt i do think Taylors style gets dominated by Calzaghe

Says Who? The same guy that said B-Hop couldnt crack at 160 so he cant Hurt joe C? .......... Yeah Joe C will win every single 120 rounds in 10 bouts with Taylor.

          • Taylor isnt better than Calzaghe, He was Very very protected by HBO until they felt he could take on B-hop who they thought was "old". He has a terrible stamina, Workrate and conditioning, I dont see him troubling Joe C unless he lands something big.

I predicted that Hopkins would get that exact kd! There's a post somewhere from before the fight in which I said that.

Joe brings his left foot too far forward and so can be KD'd by a counter right. That had nothing to do with power. In the 7th Joe had another balance issue, but was never hurt or wobbled.

Taylor has a great jab and Calzaghe literally does nothing to overcome a good jab. He just runs in there.

Jab, Straight right hand, all night for Taylor. He avoided the ropes brilliantly against Pavlik in that rematch. No doubt he is terrible fighting off the ropes, he is no james toney, but he has become very good at avoiding them.

So in the center of the ring, i think Taylor outclasses Calzaghe with Calzaghe floundering around like a ****** for the much of the fight.

Does anybody honestly believe that Calzaghe would have beaten HOpkins if HOpkins had the legs to avoid the ropes???

I still get a chuckle when people call Calzaghe a good boxer. He is a good FIGHTER. He has very limited boxing ability, and it'll take a guy like Taylor with his quick jab to expose that.

Calzaghe-Pavlik is a much more even and close fight. Id pick Taylor by stoppage over Calzaghe in the late rounds.
I agree. The second fight vs Pav was very close and if Taylor was still champ they would prolly give it to him, or not doesn't matter. I think Pavlik would hand Calzaghe his ass, it wouldn't even be close. The only way Calzaghe can win another big fight is if he fights another +40 year old..

undeniably in your mind, not everyones. I don't think most would agree, perhaps he has slightly better talents but not majorly. Plus, define talent. There's things Taylor cant do Calzaghe can, such as speed of punches per minute, the angles, those things are talents dude, which you seem to not want to factor in.

How you could say this I don't know, must be ignorance sorry. Someone already used 1 valid eg. in Calzaghe dealing superbly with Kesslers jab. He adjusted his stance and defence in R4 to suite, and Kessler couldn't land anywhere as much as he previously could.

What's your facination with the ropes? You seem to only even want to grasp or consider half the aspects that make a fighter or fight. Calzaghe's pretty god on the back foot, he'll avoid it if that's best, or fight well of the ropes in the rare scenario he thinks it'll work against his opponent. He's not the greatest by any means but ok.

So in the center of the ring, i think Taylor outclasses Calzaghe with Calzaghe floundering around like a ****** for the much of the fight.
When have we ever seen Calzaghe floundering around, once in over 40 fights? Surely he woulda at least once? Taylors skills and jab aren't that massively superior to Kessler or other opponents he faced, you won't see him flounder all of a sudden for the first time in over 10 years, that's wishful thinking. Calzaghe's style of flurries of punches, awkward angles would counter any minor-medium pro's Taylor has over him, in terms of other skills.

Does anybody honestly believe that Calzaghe would have beaten HOpkins if HOpkins had the legs to avoid the ropes???
The ropes again. Dude, yes they do, and plenty, there was a poll on it, and most said Calzaghe would still win I think, or it was close. Reason being Hopkins main weapons against Calzaghe were Defence, Countering, and spoiling. These are what give and gave Calzaghe most trouble, and Hops only possedded them to such high levels post 40. Your very simplistic in your comparisons, not factoring in many aspects dude.

I still get a chuckle when people call Calzaghe a good boxer. He is a good FIGHTER. He has very limited boxing ability, and it'll take a guy like Taylor with his quick jab to expose that.
Not as big as the chuckle on reading that, you seem unable to assess someone with fair open minded eyes. Calzaghe's a great boxer, with great boxing skills. Are you sure your not thinking of Ricky Hatton. Those criticisms are slightly more truer of him.

Calzaghe-Pavlik is a much more even and close fight. Id pick Taylor by stoppage over Calzaghe in the late rounds.
Eubank, Mitchell, Lacy, Kessler either couldn't land any bombs, or could land any hard enough to give Joe much trouble, what makes you think Taylor could? No way is Calzaghe backing down on the back foot, watch any of his fights, get him mad or remotely hurt him, he'll come gunning for you.

Late R stoppag, is a v peculier prediction based on those more objective points, contrary to your largely subjective, flawed ones.
