what if: James Toney vs. Joe Calzaghe @ 168 (Prime for prime)

But he couldnt handle a 43 year old hopkins, toney was seriously quick handed at 160-168, had power in both hands, far more power than calzaghe btw, cos toney's power is proven against great fighters, better offense, better defense by light years.

I would have loved to see this fight, with calzaghe thinking he can jump in throwing wild wide shots and getting countered to death, toney beat better more techincally skilled fighters than calzaghe.

Toney has never looked great against fighters who throw faster then him. And at 168 Calzaghe definitely is faster then toney, toney is skilled but he panics when people are faster then him.

Calzaghe by ud, and probably a knock down in the fight but toney will get back up.

Cos contrary to Public belief James Toney aint Mikkel Kessler, and he certainly aint the 43 year old hopkins who had calzaghe going inbetween life and death.

It comes down the same thing, dont look for a calzaghe blueprint to beat toney in roy jones

1) Toney was weight drained
2) Joe Calzaghe fights nothing like roy jones, they are both fast, thats it, technically, jones is on another level.

Calzaghe is world class, but seriously, he couldnt land that off balance, wide offensive against a guy like toney, who hits way harder than him, has a better chin than him, is a better boxer than him.

Toney at 175 was also a savage man when he was motivated. Watch the Freddie Delgado fight.

And even to this day, 5 years later, nobody at heavyweight has been able to lay a beating on Holyfield like blown-up middleweight James Toney did. That was skill and instinct.

Do you think that Calzaghe would last even a minute standing toe-2-toe with Sam Peter like James Toney did for 24 rounds?
