I agree, it's not like the NBA where you get stun-gunned if you ask a backup PG for an autograph.

The top guys i.e. Cotto, Mayweather, those kind of guys. Would you group Clottey into that group? Probably not.

Then how can Clottey be elite when he isn't among the top guys? He hasn't even won an alphabet strap yet.

I agree. Margarito says he learned from the Williams fights and needs to start fast. Thats bull****, hes started fast before. Fact is he COULDNT fight like that against Williams. Hes still the same fighter. All hes done since then is beat Golden Johnson and Cintron whom he already destroyed (i dont think Cintron improved much).

But Margarito is just a massive welterweight. Hes got a granite chin. And hes got some serious power. On top of that, hes a very confident individual. Despite his flaws, the facts above make him a tough fight for almost anyone.

Cotto vs Margarito is gonna be fireworks son!

Getting jabbed in the face makes it hard to start fast, particularly when you don't move your head.

Elite are the fighters that are top in your division. Being journalist and all, you should know that. Who is top of the division right now?

Let me ask you this then? How many elite fighters has Floyd fought in each respective division? At 140 not a single one, at 147 maybe one in Baldomir cause Baldo lucked out against a always disappointing Judah. Hatton isn't even a top 8 in the 147 division. Elite fighters are the top 3,4 but that's a matter of opinion cause sometimes you might just have a division stacked with more than 5 elite fighters.

exactly. Cotto has had his ******* jab pumping lately too, which makes me feel confident about their fight. Margarito is a lot taller though so i dont know if Cotto will be able to work the jab that well. Margarito doesnt really fight tall though. And if he fights inside with Cotto, I think Cotto's quicker hands and shorter arms will land first. Margarito has a good chin, but you cant just go into a fight relying on being able to take punches. I think Cotto has that fight in the bag. Of course Margarito can catch Cotto with a huge shot and rock em and finish em off, its a possibility, but i doubt it.

Bottom line is you claim Floyd Mayweather to be elite at 147 simply cause he has a win over Baldomir? That elite bull**** that you and Dominicano use should be flushed down the toilet cause it's such a flip-flopping argument.

I'm sorry man, but there is no way you are going to pass Joshua Clottey off as an "elite" fighter. There just isn't. Yes, I am a journalist, and no, Clottey is still not elite.

"Lucked out?" There is no lucking out over 12 rounds. You work hard and your effort pays off. Baldomir beat Judah because he wanted to win more, not because he was lucky.

As for elite guys, you could say that Hatton, who occupied a spot on Ring Mag's P4P list was elite. You could say Corrales was in a position of very high esteem at the time Mayweather beat him.

Elite fighters are the ones who separate themselves as being superior fighters. You can sometimes find them in P4P lists and that kind of thing.
