You can't put Calzaghe in the same class as a prime Roy Jones Jr.

There is no truth to fantasy scenarios. In reality we can only go by what has happened.

So I can say Calzaghe beats prime Ali and it means just as much.

So in these conversations we all say what we want to be true

I wouldn't go as far as Ali....but RJJ is a different matter. After seeing Calzaghe's last three fights, I now hold Calzaghe above RJJ even in his prime. I don't think RJJ could deal with Calzaghe's ambidextrous hand speed and Calzaghe has a granite chin. That's a bad combinaton for RJJ, IMO.

Comparing RJJ to Calzaghe is like comparing Michael Jordan to Larry Bird.

Both great basketball players but one has way better athleticism, skills and has accomplished much more on a overall hall of fame scale.

The limeys just get too exicited with that 44-0 record sometimes.

I think Roy in his prime and calzaghe in his prime would it been a marvelous fight. But I still would it pick joe against RJJ. Roy was great but always have had problems with Southpaws and guys that throw a lot of punches and puts pressure. Guess who is a southpaw and fights like that. Calzaghe is very underrated. And thats just because he haven't come earlier to America.

RJJ's prime was inhuman, especially when he was fighting that long string of bums. Calzaghe's prime is right now and I would classify it as the perfect combination of mind and body, totally integrated into one very relentless fighting machine.

I'll take Calzaghe over Jones...then and now.

RJJ beat a better version of Hopkins and he looked better then Joe did against the 43 year old B-Hop.

You wanna talk about bums??? Lets not start naming the 40 bums out of the 45 fights that Joe has fought.

Don't even go there princess or you'll lose the arguement every time.

The best you can do is acknowledge that RJJ is one of the ATG's and hopefully hope that Joe gets a W over him and try to make a case for Joe. Anything else is a mistake.

Calzaghe is past his prime. You really need to watch him in his prime. He was already over the hill when he fought Lacy. Calzaghe in his prime was incredible, but Roy Jones is really just too good.

As much as I love Calzaghe, no amount of hand speed and no amount of craftieness is enough to offset the pure physical advantages that a prime Roy Jones possessed.

Not only was Roy the most incredible physical specimen ever, he was one of the smartest fighters to ever step in the ring.

It would be a great fight, but Roy would take this.
