I couldn't give a damn about Philly but knew they would win the series as soon as it was finalized as the first round match up. They DEFINITELY will win, styles make fights, and they do the same in basketball. I also bet on Oak-town over Dallas last year and made a killing. Just tell Andre Miller to stop dribbling the ball like he gets paid by the minute.

DLH vs Mayweather, and Mayweather vs Hatton, were numbers 1 and 2 respectively, each finishng well ahead of the rest. However, UFC occupied the other 8 spots, and the WWE had 2. What that says is that Boxing will always have its mega fight (although who are the future stars such as DLH and Mayweather to demand such high buys?? Exactly, just one problem with boxing) and the mega fight will most likely destroy everything else. However, UFC is more consistant and more popular by far if you compare it on an event for event basis.

Also, to the idiots claiming anyone can kick or slam, that's like saying anybody can punch or parry an oncoming shot. You clearly do not know what you're talking about. If you attempted to box a professional muay thai fighter you would get embarassed. There is more on your body then fists. Knowing how to use feet, knees and elbows obviously is more technical, along with knowing how to defend. Add the extremely intricate ground game (which a lot of you losers call gay, clearly fearing your own sexuality) and takedown control and you have a sport a lot more complicated and technical than boxing. Boxing and mma (mixed martial arts for you morons) are two different things. Boxing masters footwork, hands and defense. Mixed Martial Arts utilizes that (although not on the same level obviously) plus 25 other concepts of fighting at least. It's boxing vs FIGHTING. The best fighter in the world is in mma, not boxing, that's where the best boxer resides. Learn something next time you post.

As for Dave Meltzer, he also posted the article I used for information above regarding the 12 highest grossing PPV events last year. Stop being biased.
Posted almost exactly what you posted a little before your posts but it's true

Not all is true. Many fans like both and so do I and I totally respect boxing probobly more then MMA. What I don't respect is when they downplay MMA and say it has no relevance and isn't a real sport

Like Roy Jones Jr??? He's a huge mma fan. That's like saying people only watch boxing because they hope somebody dies from a head injury. It's a completely factless opinion which borderlines idiocrisy.

Sorry Mosley, I didn't see that post, I'm glad you're schooling these fools though. I love boxing, watched it before mma, but to downgrade one over the other is ridiculous, and to not see that mma is on its way up when boxing as a whole is fading (other then the odd mega fight) is just plain ****** and obviously biased.

BTW, most of the time I'd prefer a superfight in boxing over a huge mma card, but lately they have been lackluster. UFC 83 was one of the worst UFC's in the last 2 years on a whole as far as talent goes, yet was 100x more exciting than the Hopkins vs Calzaghe fight. And that's coming from a guy who has every Hopkins fight on DVD and ranks him in the top 3 favorite boxers ever.

Again with the Kimbo. He isn't even experienced in MMA and there are far more talented people then him. If you would take the time to see it maybe you wouldn't be as ignorant but w,e it's your choice man

People who say that obviously have a strong dislike for the sport because of different reasons. Experts in both don't see it that way and see the two sports as being skillfull and technical. Martial Arts have been around since the old days but only recently has there been mixed martial arts which combines all aspects of martial arts into one. So it's boxing, kick-boxing, jiu-jitsu, Muyh Tai, sambo, wrestling, karate and many other techniques all in one. The fact that HBO was about to sign a deal back in 07 with UFC is proven that they are in direct competition. Who else would boxing be in competition with? Kickboxing? No. They have to be in competition with someone and its clearly the UFC. The fact that they both fight for PPV buys and yearly revenue is proof that there is a direct competition. The fact that it is growing in the home country of boxing is a fact that their is a direct competition not to mention the fact AGAIN that they beat boxing in yearly revenue in 06. What other proof is there. I can't think of any more for now but if you want I can come up with more
Nobody wanted UFC on HBO besides Chris Albrecht he got canned for beating up his girlfriend then the deal died.

You can read all about it here

For over twenty years, Seconds Out has been delivering the very latest boxing news, results, interviews and more.

that was before the deal was canned though.

The reason I say there isn't competition is most UFC fans weren't Boxing fans then once they saw MMA decided to change sports. Most UFC fans were never Boxing fans and don't even watch other MMA programs, Boxing fans will watch ESPN,Showtime,HBO,Telefutura,PPV whatever channel it's on and any promoter. You will never hear "I only watch Golden Boy promotions" yet the MMA fans are Loyal to the Promoters not the fighters, look at Randy Couture. He is one of the biggest names in MMA, now many of UFC fan turned their back on him because he had a dispute with his promoters the UFC. That's like if people stop caring for Kelly Pavlik because he wanted more money from Bob Arum.

It's the WWE mentality of being loyal to the company not the stars or the sport. If Don King Promotions were to die Boxing would go on, If the UFC were to die MMA in the states would die with it.

                      That's a bit far fetched.

Keep in mind that MMA is huge all over the world and UFC is basically the American spotlight of the sport. Also, the dude who most MMA fans call the #1 P4P fighter has never fought in the UFC (Fedor Emilienenko).

Boxings main issue is and has always been about money. There are so many hands in the pot when a big fight is being set. You can have a UFC card with at least 4 major stars on it with no problem as opposed to boxing where the majority of the under cards consist either of journeymen, 4 round bantamweights fights (you get the picture).

I'll always choose boxing over MMA just because I've followed it so long. But give credit where credit is due. UFC is putting on fights their fans want to see. What is the main complaint on this board...about a "certain" fight not being made because of (fill the blank __________________________)
