I kind of see the point of your thread, I was discussing with a Cotto fan yesterday and he mention the samething exactly..I said i favoured Margarito by a slim margin but he suggest Cotto would outbox the slower Margarito..I then said Margarito would draw Cotto into a war because Cotto isnt smart enough to just box/Potshot like Mayweather would do.

Now, in the second half of the Mosley/Cotto fight, Mosley was frantically trying to draw Cotto into more a brawl, trying to catch him. Cotto in effect became the Boxer and Mosley became the pressure fighter. Now, everyone with an ounce of objectivity saw that Cotto did exactly what you say he cant do in your post. He was moving around, boxing and potshotting. If Cotto can outbox a desperate Mosley who's smarter and quicker than Margarito, I dont see why he wouldnt be able to AGAINST Margarito.

Cotto won't be able to box backwards for 12 rounds. He won't have the patience to potshot Margarito over a period of time.

Most likely it will start out like Gatti-Ward in the opening rounds before Margarito gets going and Cotto loses his patience.

margarito is not cotto and floyd will have alot of problems with miguel.cotto is not as slow as margarito his punches are not wide and looping like margarito and cotto can adjust and fight a different type of fight if he has to margarito can't.cotto punches faster than hatton is a better boxer than hatton is bigger than castillo and has a better jab than oscar

There are no double standards is that we know Cotto is better than Margo or Floyd. You forget Cotto can put on pressure as good or better than Margarito and can box circles around him. And in Mayweather's case Cotto can box as good as Mayweather and can pressure him until he crumbles.

Cotto is the more versatile fighter he can box or pressure, Margarito can't box and Mayweather can't pressure is as simple as that.
