Why would my MMA friend be interested in watching Pavlik just because of what Floyd is doing?

Explain to me how these new fans are going to be interested in Boxing itself when Floyd publicly states that he doesnt love Boxing anymore?

SOMEONE PLEASE explain the logic. SOMEONE PLEASE explain how and why people would be interested in fights other than Floyd's? Whaty Floyd is trying to do is get a FANBASE. A FANBASE is loyal. A FANBASE sticks with you no matter what. These people dont want to be Floyd fans. These people BOO Floyd because Floyd is entering THEIR world as a bad guy.

Why in the hell would these people come to OUR world?

2501 ,Geez u just nailed it their mate

Floyd is doing it to get a fanbase for himself not bring the masses back to Boxing the same way he thought his country v country fight with Hatton would work

Things like Vasquez vs. Marquez is good for boxing, Mayweather is the most talented guy but he isnt the savior of boxing like some of you guys make it seem. One guy on here actually said "He is good for boxing simply because he is singlehandedly bringing it back into the public eye." This would mean him in the ring shadow boxing himself with 1 hand tied behind his back. it's rediculas. Good for boxing yes, like manny, cotto, hatton, JMM marquez, in the sense that they has skills, any1 with skill is good for boxing. But he isnt greatness yet.

OK. I was asking...i think you made some VERY valid points. Which leads to my next question, what will it take for boxing to be revived? More exciting fights? Better fighters? I want to see our sport mainstream again, just as much anyone on NSB. ya diiiggg?

I will say this, when we look at boxings history, THE HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION was ALWAYS A KNOWN FIGURE, not just in the US but the World. History shows us, Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Spinks, and the list goes on. I think our sport began to fall off when the Tyson's, Holyfield's, etc kinda of fell off... If i asked the average person who the heavyweight champ was, they wouldn't be able to tell me, as opposed to the past...Therefore, do we need a ONE HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION to make the sport mainstream again??

Floyd specifically said that right now boxing is in his rearview mirror, and is taking a backseat to wrestling. So please explain how in anyway that is helping the sport of boxing?

floyd has no real impact on the sport. the problems of boxing go beyond floyd mayweather. Floyd is the consequence and result of a broken system. floyd wouldn't be able to do what he does if the sport didn't let him.

boxing will not thrive or perish because of anything floyd does outside the ring.
