Too many shots on the button and it can break. When has Calzaghe fought anyone with the ring smarts, technical ability, ring experience, craftiness, ability to adjust, as confident as Bernard Hopkins? Hopkins is the best fighter that Calzaghe is going to fight. When Joe gets hit, he tends to force his speed and brawl with his oppnent, which will play directly into Hopkins hands. Bernard will offset Calzaghe's work rate, hand speed, and foot speed by keeping the fight on the outside and look to counter Joe on the way. Hopkins seen the Kessler fight and Joe showed that he is WIDE open to counter right hands and does not look as good fighting a technical nor a tactical fight. Bika was able to rough Joe up and even cut him over the eye, which threw him out of his game. Hopkins masters this kind of a fight and is rougher, tougher, more skilled, faster and stronger than Bika is. People are completely underestimating Hopkins in this fight and will surprised when it happens.

Btw Calzaghe doesn't just "swarm", that makes it sound like he just windmills in. Calzaghe gets in and out quickly throwing accurate punches from a variety of angles, and he mixes up his attacks. Lets not make JC sound like an idiot, he is a wise veteran in his own right.
It has never happened and then again, since when has he fought nor beat someone thats as good as Hopkins with his ring intelligence? Trying to box cautiously is what Calzaghe has to do. He wants to make it a technical fight because he is not winning an inside fight nor a tactical fight against Hopkins and if he trying in volume, then he will be countered. You need squared up come forward fighter in order to get those punches off, not a counter puncher that looks to move around the ring and fight a tactical fight like Hopkins or he will be caught on the way in.

      You're an idiot.
That was uncalled for. Grow some balls wanker.

A few Hopkins quotes from a recent article in the latest Ring Magazine:
Joe outworks you with a lot of punches. He bewilders you with punches. He overshadows you with punches. You try to hit him with one or two punches and he's throwing six. It's little BB shots against a *******, if the ******* doesn't land, the BB shots add up. I have to put him in the state of mind where he's saying to himself, I normally like to throw a lot of punches, but this guy hit me with something and I have to be reluctant now. I just need him to think.

I'm bringing in Mackie Shilstone, the same guy I brought in for Tarver. This is for a reason. Trust me, I know what I need for certain fights and what I don't need for certain fights.

Bernard Hopkins is going to look like a welterweight when it comes to punching. The body is going to look like a cruiserweight.

Now I think he's exaggerating when he says he'll be punching like a Welter, although he does plan on punching more than normal (for him), but I think it's clear that his gameplan is to focus on power and counter punching. He believes (again, no need to flame me for analyzing his gameplan) that by successful and powerful counter punches, it will leave Joe cautious and thus slow down his workrate. He's bringing in Shilstone for this purpose.

And to those that disagree with this strategy, if you were Hopkins or in his corner, what do you think the best gameplan would be against Calzaghe?

Completely idiotic post. The "***" namecalling is just the icing on the cake. I'd like to see you speak to Joe like that to his face. You'd be going home with your teeth in your pocket.

Joe already said he's not gonna go rushing in, he's gonna pick his shots intelligently, then up his work rate later in the fight. He's expecting Bernard to try taking him out in the later rounds, and to be honest that's what I'd think too. Bernard tries to wear his opponent down and then take over late in the fight, much as he did with Taylor. It just won't be enough, though, he'll already be miles behind on the cards.

The reason is that no one else called me a name or insulted me while you did. Some people said they fail to see how thats a good strategy or whatever, but no one came off like a little ***** like you did.

i would easily roll his amateur-ish slaps........... and trade him one crisp uppercut......... that would be all it would take to persuade him from escelating the situation any further.
