I find it laughable that people think that Calzaghe will up the pressure when he is hurt against Hopkins. They do not realize that Bernard is one of the craftiest counter punchers in history and Calzaghe will be caught coming in with sharp right hands. Calzaghe has never fought a fighter like Hopkins that can take advantage of that. Swarming in on Hopkins will be the dumbest thing that Calzaghe would do. People will be in for a surprise on April 19th.

Have you ever seen a punch slow down Calzaghe?
Have you ever seen Calzaghe get hit with a big shot, then sit down on his punches and go for his opponents jugular straight away?

We realise what Hopkins is good at, but we also realise what Calzaghe is good at, i see no reason to think Calzaghe will get hurt and start fighting cautiously. It's never happened.

Btw Calzaghe doesn't just "swarm", that makes it sound like he just windmills in. Calzaghe gets in and out quickly throwing accurate punches from a variety of angles, and he mixes up his attacks. Lets not make JC sound like an idiot, he is a wise veteran in his own right.

im a b-hop fan and from the philly area, but that being said joe does some things in the ring ive never seen. i don't think we can really predict accurately what will happen between two master boxers like these two.

You'll have to remind me, what round was that? I don't recall seeing Calzaghe slow down at any point in that fight.

well right, but ithe strategy is to have more power on his counter punches, which is what he will be relying on.

You honestly think Joe's gonna go in head first like a bumbling idiot? Joe Calzaghe is a clever guy. I doubt you know more about how to win a fight than he does. Joe already said he's not gonna go rushing in, he's gonna pick his shots intelligently, then up his work rate later in the fight. He's expecting Bernard to try taking him out in the later rounds, and to be honest that's what I'd think too. Bernard tries to wear his opponent down and then take over late in the fight, much as he did with Taylor. It just won't be enough, though, he'll already be miles behind on the cards.

Where? When? I didn't see that, and I have almost all Joe's fights on video. Kessler managed a few decent looking uppercuts which stopped Joe in his tracks for what... maybe 2 seconds? Then what? Kessler lost the fight.

Joe faced bigger punchers than Bernard and walked through them. Bernard can't rely on power, it won't work against a guy with a chin made from melted down cars. The only way Bernard can win is by outboxing Calzaghe. You know this ain't gonna happen.
