Take away the 1.6mil he received this time and throw in the 750,000 he was offered the 1st time around and that would still be his biggest purse to date. He still received less than 750,00 for a world title fight with Barrera. A fight that had a very controversial decision that went Marquez's way. So bad luck is not the story of his career because the "gift" decision as some would say actually went Marquez's way in the Barrera fight. The Story of Marquez's career is bad management. Plain and simple. Morales offered to fight Marquez 1st after the draw with Pacquiao. Marquez's camp refused that as well. Morales ended up fighting Pacquiao instead...Marking Pacquiao's skyrocket rise into the #2 p4p in the sport. So i say Marquez has been both blessed and cursed at the same time by Nacho.

Marquez was greedy when they tried to get a rematch with Pac 4 years ago. Pac was the draw, not Marq. Then when he had an opportunity to fight Morales, he wanted too much again. No fight.

You reap what you sow. If Marq had the rematch 4 years ago and had won/lost/close fight - Marquez would be as popular as Pacquiao today.

      Nacho is a dumb ass.

a paycut is when you get something lower that what you previously got. i bet this is the biggest purse marquez ever got in his career. 30k is peanuts compared to his pay in this fight. and much more than filling up a high school auditorium sized place in his last fight with rocky.

Did you forgot that his fight with Rocky Juarez was MGM GRAND LAS VEGAS? Then it was transferred to a 2000 capacity stadium and he can't even sold out that arena.. Pac fighting an unknown fighter and he can still sell more than 10,000 tickets.

Urbano Antillon vs Bobby Pacquiao sold more tickets than that fight

Marquez was a huge part to the succes of the ppv.

What were the ppv. number with Pacquiao v. Solis? Even then Arum had to stack the card with Mexican fighters so people will buy. But i havn't heard any ppv numbers. Have you?

i agree that JMM was part of the story of the fight of course he was the opponent but the draw is pac and facts are undisputed. pac fills up stadiums no matter who he fights. marquez was fighting juarez an erthswhile champ and couldnt sell out 2000.
