That said, I think Katsidis' corner was right in a way; Casamayor was still dangerous and they didn't want him getting caught by being lazy. I mean, barring that horrible decision- that one misplaced, wide shot- the most likely way Casa was going to get him was by Micheal getting lazy. When he failed to get in Casamayor was having success teeing off on him; and Katsidis has been hurt several times, and dropped already. I feel like his corner knew his best defense was a strong offense- that's the type of fighter Katsidis is. I think he could have lost even without that shot; he looked like he was on his way to victory...but it was still on the table. Really, we'll never know...but I think perhaps he was just too green in general. Can't blame it all on his corner...I feel like they were urging him to defend himself through effective aggresion and Katsidis was just too green to do so. When he heard, "Stay on him..." or "Keep your hands moving to keep him off you!" he chose to do so with those wild shots.

Should his corner have know he was prone to do something so ******? Sure. But the advice itself- say, the same exact advice given to a slightly more experienced fighter...I think would have been fine. Some of the blame most surely lies with Katsidis himself.

In between the 9th and 10th all we could hear his trainer say was "..Stay.." (on the HBO feed). I'll have to assume his trainer said "..Stay on top of him.."

When Katsidis came out for the 10th he was even more aggressive with the attempted bombs and lunging - he got caught and the rest is history.

Tonight we witnessed a Boxing tragedy. Michael Katsidis was less than three rounds from an apparent Ring championship.

That is a ****ed up way to fall short.. To say the least.
He needs a new trainer, I can't believe in Katsidis's last fight, he didn't even tell him to jab.

But in regards tonight's fight. I bet they were under the impression they were behind on the cards. Different story if they had of known that maybe.

Exactly, I'm sure they meant smart, effective aggression, not the type of aggression Katsidis went out there and did.

You're not giving Casa enough credit, and you're giving Katsidis too much IMO. If you saw some of Katsidis' other fights or just as far as the first round, its obvious he gets careless, and just plain gets hit too much. I saw it as casa getting overconfident and giving Katsidis a way into the fight, and then casa went back to what worked. And that was gradual, you saw casa adjusting in the 2 rounds previous to the stoppage, it wasnt just "OH ****! I forgot about the left hook" in the case of Casa or "Im gonna swing for the ****ing fences!" in Katsidis' case.

Katsidis is yet another over-rated Australian fighter, just like Mundine, Green etc. He maybe exciting to watch, but just like Emmanuel Augustus, he aint gonna acheive much overall. This is a man given trouble for a while by Graham Earl. I said then and I'll say again, people are just over-rating him.

who is saying that he is a potential hall of famer?

i think ppl have rated him just as he is.. a come forward brawler, action packed fighter, who has flaws...that is all i've heard and read about him in the past year.

i haven't heard or read anybody say that he was a future legend.

Can you read? I know you can, you're an intelligent guy I've seen your posts.. Look man, you have to read all of what I've said here. The 9th round was not a good round, get it?

Katsidis was clearly in dangerous territory with the lunging and the wild haymakers in the 9th round. Like I've said here; I was talking to the TV myself telling him to calm the **** down.. For whatever reason his trainer told Michael to stick with what he was doing in the 9th - heading into the 10th. What Katsidis chose to do on his own was get a slightly more wild than he was in the 9th to open the 10th. That is what you saw.

The point is, what Katsidis was doing in the 9th, what his trainer told him to do, was ****** and was not working. His trainer failed to see that and Michael chose to go in wild on his own in the 10th because he had the approval of his trainer. He wasn't warned about the danger.

Danger, millions of people could see all around the world.

Where did I mention HOF and whats HOF got to do with anything? I'm just saying he is just a brawler who, like Augustas, entertains but that is about it. Some here (especially Australians-who lets face it, in recnt years dont have much to shout about when it comes to boxing-with the exception of Zoo) seem to think he somehow is going to clean up the division, he is the main man at this weight, he is the man to beat, blah blah blah.
