Team Katsidis: An Example Of What Not To Do

Yeah, I think that is what it comes down to. At the lower level of competition he was getting away with not actually giving any specific advice and just telling Katsidis to "pick it up" etc was working. Now though, when he needed to be told to do certain things to win and cut out certain things that were very obviously not going to win him the fight it wasn't said....?
Sometimes a fighter and corner have to recognise that they need someone who can take them to that next level and who has the experience at the highest level to make it happen. If his corner can't see the huge mistakes they were making by not telling him certain things in a video playback then I actually feel sorry for Katsidis' career because if he comes up in this type of situation again, which will most certainly happen, and doesn't get sound advice, it could ruin what may have been an amazing and exciting career.
Katsidis went a bit wild towards the end and left to his own devices would have lost the fight, but, the whole point of a corner is to see what's happening and curb those tendencies in a fighter. To tell him what to do and what not to do is what they're there for, and sadly, these guy just weren't there for Katsidis when he needed them most.
After seeing the Amonsot fight I had some pretty big reservations about his corner who seemed to be making some pretty ****** decisions that may have cost him that fight. Now, this has just cemented what I thought then because at this level you need to know that what your corner is telling you is going to win you the fight and after this performance I wouldn't be so confident if I was Katsidis.Comment
