Team Katsidis: An Example Of What Not To Do

If it ain't broke don't fix it..

In between the 8th and 9th Katsidis' trainer told him to "..bring it up.." Katsidis responded by visibly increasing his aggressiveness, lunging in and throwing wide arcing shots.

In between the 9th and 10th all we could hear his trainer say was "..Stay.." (on the HBO feed). I'll have to assume his trainer said "..Stay on top of him.."

When Katsidis came out for the 10th he was even more aggressive with the attempted bombs and lunging - he got caught and the rest is history.

Tonight we witnessed a Boxing tragedy. Michael Katsidis was less than three rounds from an apparent Ring championship.

That is a ****ed up way to fall short.. To say the least.

They said stay on top of him but not lunge in like an amateur. He got way too anxious and paid the price.

He was doing just fine. There was absolutely no reason to tell him to "bring it up," i.e. increase the pressure. Casamayor was clearly dangerous.

I wish Katsidis could hear me.. I was saying "..be careful.. go back to the body, Mike.." in between the 9th and 10th..

I agree with what silencers said. They didn't mean go in there and lunge like your life was on the line. It was like he came out his corner and threw himself at Joel.

                Obviously not.

Read what I wrote in the opening post. Then go back and watch the fight again. Katsidis was starting with the overt lunging in the 9th round. When he came back to his corner we have every indication that they made no changes to that direction.

No, they didn't tell him to lunge like your life is on the line - but they did tell him to increase the pressure for no good reason whatsoever.

Clearly it was Michael who stepped in **** - but his trainer helped him.

That **** is funny to me.. Let's assume that Katsidis and his trainer know each other better than any of us know Michael Katsidis. When his trainer gave him those instructions Katsidis clearly responded by becoming more reckless and aggressive in the 9th. When Katsidis came back after the 9th - which was a very ineffective and libelous round BTW, his trainer told him to do more of the same.. That's a ****ing joke. Period.

Anyone have a different international feed? I want to know what he said..
