So if Arum is being dishonest would that mean the fighters in Top Rank should run for the hills? Cuz if a fighter as big as Mayweather is being screwed out of money...lord konws how bad he is screwin the fighters noone or care about? I'd like to see a court throw both their cases out. Or better yet have judge judy be the presiding judge 4 the case. Then it would really get interesting.

Exactly! Which is why they're going to have to make money somehow. The easiest way to make the amount of money both sides are going to want is the Mayweather-Cotto fight.

They are making money regardless. I dont see how this can bring them any closer to a Cotto/Floyd showdown.

He's not suing for $50,000. He's suing for an unspecified amount with a minimum of $20,000, which is the legal minimum for the types of suits he filed. If you look at the reason why he's filing it makes sense in that he claims to have not been given an accurate accounting of the PPV revenue and thus would not know how much he is owed. So, he's making complaint that he is owed at least $20,000 and would like for a judge to determine the actual amount that he is owed. If he knew how much he was owed then the complaint wouldn't make sense.

Because they were ALWAYS GOING TO DO THIS. This was ALWAYS THE ULTIMATE RESOLUTION. Why can't Cotto fans get THAT CONCEPT into their heads!?! For the last year we Mayweather fans have been saying that THIS was coming all along and Cotto fans refused to believe it and claimed that Mayweather was scared of Margaito and that he was scared of Cotto.

Do you people not have the mental dexterity to understand that sometimes the business end of boxing gets in the way of putting together HUGE lucrative and intriguing fights? Now, that everything is out in the open and the courts have the power to rule in one's favor or the other it's more likely that they'll reach something of a stalemate and they will be forced to come to some mutual agreement. The one thing they COULD agree upon that will make them the type of money they're looking for is Mayweather-Cotto.

But you have to be willing to understand that this WAS GOING TO HAPPEN EVENTUALLY. If this had never happened then Mayweather-Cotto was not going to happen. As long as this was hanging in the balance Team Mayweather and Top Rank were not going to work together. That's why Arum welcomes this suit. Because at the end of the day whether he has to may Floyd a million dollars or so he knows that this puts him MUCH CLOSER to landing the Mayweather-Cotto fight than he's been at any point in time since he had BOTH in his promotional stable.

GOD...I'm really sorry if this comes across as angry, but if you people refuse to think beyond the dumb, "Mayweather won't fight Cotto because he's scared to lose" nonsense then you get hit with something like this and wonder why it happened when the truth has always been there and you refused to believe it.

Its difficult for some people to understand plain english mate, Frankly i dont know why you bother explaining..I wouldnt, When this gets resolved one way or the other i hope that way Team Mayweather wouldnt have any excuse like(We dont want to work with Arum)..Both parties would be free to negiotate the Mayweather/Cotto fight, Kind of what happen with the Cotto..Mosley saga and Pacman..Barrera saga.

Floyd Mayweather would fight Cotto this summer if Cotto were signed by any promoter other than Top Rank. You can bet your bottom dollar on that because at the end of the day Floyd Mayweather not only believes he can beat Cotto he also knows that it's the best fight out there.

But ever since the summer of 2002 Floyd Mayweather has been threatening this type of legal action against Bob Arum. He took the first step in the summer of 2006 when he bought out his contract from Top Rank. It was like when Snoop bought out his contract from Death Row. Everyone wanted to say it was because he was scared. This mutha****er wants what all of us want. He wants control of his own career.

I can promise you one thing. You're not going to see Arum complaining about this suit. Arum was complaining when Team Mayweather wasn't filing siut because he knew the suit was pending but that it wasn't coming. So, he started strumming up things by saying Mayweather was scared of Cotto. You can bet your bottom dollar he's not going to be saying that anymore.

This is all about getting the upper hand in any negotiations where Team Mayweather and Top Rank do business together. Why do you think Bob Arum refers to Al Haymon as Machiavelli? He believes that Haymon cut him out so that he could have more control over Mayweather's lucrative career. And Arum is undeniably bitter. But this suit has been coming for a long time and the fact that it's finally here means that once its resolved there is the potential for a truce between Team Mayweather and Top Rank. But those of you who believed in your heart of hearts that Mayweather is scared of Cotto wouldn't get that because you're stuck on something that's not even true.
