If Roy was to have fought a few years earlier I don't think he would have ever won a widdleweight championship. Numerous fighters of the 80s would have made Roy look silly. Lets see how many fighters would have beaten him at thesame weight in the previous 10 years I guess we can start off with Marvin Hagler, Thomas Hearns, Roberto Duran, and Sugar Ray Leonard,Gerald McClellan,Julian Jackson,Nigel Benn,Chris Eubanks,Mike McCallum,John Mugabi,. There is a simple 10 no-doubters. We saw what McClellanan did to Roy as an amatuer. What if he would have hit Roy without Roy wearing the headgear.. Nite-Nite Roy.. Roy should consider himself a very lucky man.

    welcome to boxingscene... moron

u post nothing contructive.. ur bias is rediculous, and i know its off topic but roy wouldve destroyed calzaghe. u better believe that..

roy is a fighter who will be remembered until he passes.. hes entertaining..

hes not a late bloomer who finally got his confidence after the lacy fight.. and call me crazy, i pik roy to beat hagler.. sugar ray squeezed it out. roy wouldve done the same in a cautious boring hopkins type fight.
      I dont know about Hagler...

Real talk.....Roy was a star pretty much from day one, calzaghe acheived nothing until 10 years into his reign as 'champ'

i think he couldve beat hagler.. hagler had FITS with Leonard.. roy is faster, fresher and youger.. thats why i say hell beat hagler..

I do think that hagler was the best middleweight of all time tho.. i think roy just had the style to defeat him.. in a boring fight. i see it happening the same way as leonard and hagler.. except roy doing a bit better

Hagler was 34 in that fight and slowened down so I don't think it's a valid comparison. He had only fought twice in the last 2-3 years before the fight with Leonard.

Take Hagler from the early 80's vs Roy Jones and it's a better fight.

The fact that its even a good fight... should say a lot for Roy in and of itself.
