All the talk of Roy Jones being one of the greatest middleweights of all time and Roy Jones the legend, Roy Jones the best pound for pound in the last 10 years.. Roy Jones stumbled into the middleweight division at the weekest time the division had ever seen.. If Roy was to have fought a few years earlier I don't think he would have ever won a widdleweight championship. Numerous fighters of the 80s would have made Roy look silly. Lets see how many fighters would have beaten him at thesame weight in the previous 10 years I guess we can start off with Marvin Hagler, Thomas Hearns, Roberto Duran, and Sugar Ray Leonard,Gerald McClellan,Julian Jackson,Nigel Benn,Chris Eubanks,Mike McCallum,John Mugabi,. There is a simple 10 no-doubters. We saw what McClellanan did to Roy as an amatuer. What if he would have hit Roy without Roy wearing the headgear.. Nite-Nite Roy.. Roy should consider himself a very lucky man.
Roy JonesJr. Most overrated in history!!!

lol yer the "widdleweight" division has always been devoid of talent. Seriously though i dont think hes overrated at all hes one of the greatest boxers of this era and his achievments speak for themselves. To be perfectly honest he would of made Eubank, Benn, Mugabe and duran etc look foolish. Although I agree that Leonard, Hearns and Haggler would of been a different prospect all together. All the talk of Roy Jones being one of the greatest middleweights of all time and Roy Jones the legend, Roy Jones the best pound for pound in the last 10 years.. Roy had quality wins against Bhop and Toney.
Although John Ruiz is what it is, that performance was masterful IMO.
Not overrated at all.Comment

I dont really think anyone ever hyped him as a middleweight though? Ive never really heard to much as roy being the best middleweight... I dont really think he was over-hyped... He DID beat the future middleweight champion of 10 years + tho... when him and bernard fought... Roy was 21-0, and Bernard was 22-1...
Conclusion... I really dont think anyone has pumped up Roys legacy AS a middleweight... I think hes most known for going through all the weight classes and back down.. in a dominating fashion..Comment

Super middleweights, yes, LHW's, he is up there somewhere at the top, as a middleweight, no.Comment

Yeah I can definitely agree with SMW and LHW... but I wouldnt agree with Middleweight... He had no longevity there.... He had the potential I believe... but he had other things in mind as far as moving through weightclasses, which I think helped his legacy more than just staying at MW...Comment
