It was still just over a year since he had won the title from Baldomir... other champions have had lengths of inactivity like that and kept their belts... like Oscar De La Hoya after he beat Mayorga for instance.

Lets hope he actually does. That's all us fans are asking for. Never mind division hopping, to face weak title holders. Stand your ground and defend your belt as if it were your home.

just like when joe moves up to LHW.. if he beats Bhop.. he still has the choice to retain his SMW title.

you have a time period to choose which belt you keep, because you can no longer hold more than one weight class title at the same time, for a certain period.
I dunno I can't think of any good examples off hand but I've heard of many fighters getting stripped for not making their mandatories in their Division. He's to date fought NO top WW since taking the Title from Baldy.I'm not saying it's right but thats what these silly sanctioning bodies do.....just not to Floyd mayweather or Oscar when he held on to the WBC 154 belt Floyd won for over a year after taking it from Mayorga....It's wrong. If you don't want to defend it, Give other fighters their chance.

the WBC had hatton ranked at ww.. it was definitely a legitimate defense.

LOL I just used that reference in my post before I read this one. I know this but it is wrong. Many other less know fighters got stripped for not making mandatory defenses.

Not #1 and he shouldn't have been at WW he had moved back down to 140. why should he be ranked in both divisions?

So why is everyone criticizing Floyd for operating in the rules when they should be criticizing the sanctioning bodies for allowing this kind of **** to happen?

I personally am not criticizing him.....I just think he should have been stripped so should have Oscar. It is the sanctioning bodies fault no doubt. But they tend to show favortism to guys of their stature which really isn't fair. The rules should be the same for anyone holding one of the meaningless for the most part belts.
