If anybody should be stripped it's Cotto for fighting Gomez..Since beating Carlos Baldomir for the crown, Mayweather hasn’t defended his title/s against one single welterweight contender to date. Now he is scheduled to face Oscar in Sept. So, should he be allowed to hold on to his titles/belts as if they were superbowl rings, or should he be stripped due to the fact that he is refusing to defend them against his #1 contender, or any other WW for the matter? Vote!
If Floyd were fighting him you haters would stroke-out and die..Comment

Apparently you dont know the rules of Defending your title... Nowhere in the rules does it state you HAVE to defend your title against a fighter in the same weight class. If the commission feels that the fighter coming up in weight or down in weight, is worthy of your title shot, then you may freely and legally defend it. An undefeated 43-0 Ricky Hatton, who has already won a belt a Welterweight, is more than enough reasonable fighter to get a shot at Floyds belt. That was 6 Weeks ago.
If Ricky beat floyd, he would of taken Floyds belt. That is called "Defending". Oscar WILL be fighting for Floyds belt this time. That is called "Defending". Hating or Loving Floyd, has nothing to do with this topic.
I understand what you're saying. What im saying is, not only did he NOT defend his titles against another legit WW, but he has stated that he does not intend of fighting any other WW's. Im a big Cotto fan, and i dont approve of his B.S fight against Gomez. If Cotto try to pull the same **** that Floyd is doing now, i personally will be on this forum calling him out on his B.S. Im a fan of the sport, b4 im a manloving fan of 1 fighter.Comment

He's gotta be no older than 11teen.Comment

Gomez > Gatti. Cotto is fighting someone who also beat the guy that Floyd beat. Im not trying to condone his match against Gomez, but facts are facts!Comment

If you truly understand what im saying... then youll understand that Floyd does not legally need to defend his title against a WW, to keep his title. As long as its a legitimate fighter the commission deems appropriate. You cant take his title, because he doesnt fight who you want too... on a side note id rather see him fight cotto rather than oscar, but that doesnt mean we can say... Bad floyd, no title for you.I understand what you're saying. dont cherry pick some random fighter out of floyds career.... gatti is also better than a lot of fighters that cotto has faced earlier in his career as well.Comment

Yes, legally, he does not need to defend against someone in his own weight division. But given his pfp#1 status, and claim to be the best to ever lace them up, do u think its a bit of a stretch for us fans to ask for him to face someone who is in the same division that he holds the titles to?Comment
