I'm sorry guy. You're a good poster but some of the **** you've posted in this thread overrating Baldomir, Gatti and leaving out Mitchell just cant be overlooked as it hasnt by the other posters in this thread. Normally, when discussing boxers and their careers, the only actual opinions that can be considered and respected are of pundits, analysts and hardcore boxing fans and let me tell you, the majority never gave them a chance. Floyd played it smart by choosing to fight the Welterweight Champion when the title was held by someone he and everyone with any knowledge of boxing knew he could beat. and Gatti? Really? Did you ever see Gatti fight before he faced off with Mayweather? What about Mitchell? MITCHELL! All these dudes could have been tune up fights for him.Gatti was considered a tough opponent at the time and there was a lot of hype about gatti's style and how it was going to bother floyd then floyd goes out and makes him look like an amature just like he did to hatton and you cotto fans try to descredit the win because he beat them so bad. Before the fight floyd is going to lose...after there is 100 reasons why floyd opponent sucks. And I'd be damn if fighting for the wbc championship is considered a tune up fight because that's what you just said lmao. So the wbc championship fight was a tune up for what a heavy weight title?
So when someone says, "If Floyd were to do it, it would be travesty right?", as mentioned above, he HAS done it but they werent treated as tune ups, they were treated as headlining fights with predictable and an inevitable outcomes.
The funnier thing is that Floyd fans are crying "double standards" yet fail to acknowledge a certain fact or ignore it for the sake of their arguement.
This is a showcase fight to build anticipation for his fight with Margarito.
Now, why is that not being mentioned? What does it matter that Cotto is facing Gomez if he is facing a legitimate ex title holder anyway? Cotto likes to be active and I am very appreciative that he is one of those fighters that would like to fight more often because I get to see him fight again. So this notion that Cotto is just cherry picking is pretty null in void and just a way for Floyd stans to try to point out some hypocrisy that doesn't exists.
But let us discuss another interesting fact that Floyd stans are also ignoring, prolly on purpose.
If he faces of with Gomez and Margo this year, that means he has faced 8 fighters in 3 years.
What other elite fighter is doing this? Floyd certainly isn't. Bernard Hopkins certainly isnt. Jermaine Taylor didn't. Only one I can think of is Kelly Pavlik and HIS record doesn't hold as much weight as Cotto's relatively speaking.
So again, what's the big deal?Comment

good post, people fail to realize that Cotto doesnt fight twice a year , he fights atleast three and they are talking about him fighting 4 this year. they need to go look at some of the other WW's comp when they are only fighting twice a year. NOT TO MENTION, Judah was THE RING CHAMP and he fought Baldomir, tell me was Baldomir, prior to the Judah fight anymore credible then Gomez is now? they need to REALLY go look at both of thier resumes....I'm sorry guy. Yes both of them are beasts and I liked and respected Gordon's game since I saw him completely trash Michael Jordon's son team last year on ESPN when they were in high school.
My beloved hometown Wizards just beat the Celtics in back to back games without Gilbert Arenas. Keep on truckin fellas!!!!!!!!!!!!!Comment
