I don't like the fact that most yanks believe you have to beat an American in America to be accepted as an elite fighter. It doesn't work that way anymore. Mikkel Kessler and Joe Calzaghe are the two best Super Middleweights and they are both from Europe. If Mikkel Kessler beat Oscar De La Hoya @ 168 would that be a good win for him? It seems so in most of your eyes.

    Ummm... No.
Look, Calzaghe may be a good fighter. I kind of think he is. But at this point, we're not sure. If he wants to fill the seats in Cardiff and fight Peter Manfredo and Bika... fine. Make your money Joe, but don't complain when people are skeptical about your record. But if he wants to be a GREAT fighter, he's going to have to do more than beat a 43 year old Bernard Hopkins. Maybe he should've started this campaign earlier rather than fighting American reality TV castoffs in that cozy barbed wire litter box

You are a disgrace to America, with that ******ed attitude toward Calzaghe!

He's a great fighter, it doesn't matter to me if he's from a different country than I am.

So what did Roy Jones do to be a great?

If Calzaghe beats Hopkins their resumes would be pretty similar.

You should have mentioned the best Joe has fought, Kessler and Eubank.
Don't just put unrecognizable names, and pretend they're the best Joe's fought.

          Joe is a proven fighter.

Now, you can make yourself happy with history lessons, you can give yourself some consolidation before the fight. I don't blame you for that because I'm 1000% sure Joe will win.

I'm betting all my points, I'll bet them with you, if you agree.

When it's all said and done, when Joe defeats Popkins to a convincing UD, you'll then realize how wrong you were.
Ok, Kessler was the best that Joe has fought. But that is the ONLY person that he has fought sir. Eubanks? If you look at boxing HISTORY, HISTORY shows you that the best fighters from out of the US come TO the US to get their stamps of approval. Look at ya boy Lennox Lewis (is that a good example?) This is the country where the BEST fighters in the world are. Have you ever heard of the Boxing Mecca of the World, Las Vegas???

I said ALL of that to say this, Joe will FINALLY get the test that he needs. I would not say that his legacy is sealed by beating Kessler, Eubanks, Manfredo, Lacy, and the likes. BHOP on the other hand is a Legend. If and i'll say IF Joe beats him, then he and YOU can talk. But from your point of view, Joe is the best thing since sliced bread.

I speak on history, becuz I grew up around this sport. If you don't know your history about something, how can you discuss it effectively?

By the way, I'm NOT on this forum to make beats (points, or money). I'm no gambler, that doesn't make me feel good. I love the sport for the sport, not betting on a guy to get feel good about myself for making a bet if he won.

April will be Joe's chance to beat an ELITE fighter, will he step up or will the lights of Vegas and the X put too much pressure on him? Guess we will see!

I'll give you that, Hopkins is an elite fighter but so is Eubanks and Kessler has got what it takes to be one too. Hopkins is just a name which Calzaghe needs on his resume to secure his legacy. If it wasn't for Taylor losing to Pavlik then we would be seeing Taylor-Calzaghe instead.

First of all, I don't think I insulted the British in anyway. If I did, my bad.

Second, Roy Jones Jr.?! What? What does he have to do with anything?
If you were going to give A's B's and C's to their opponents, tell me how many A's and B's Calzaghe has and then Bernard Hopkins. This is how I see it

              Calzaghe A's: KESSLER
              Calzaghe B's: LACY

Hopkins A's: WRIGHT, TITO, DE LA HOYA
Hopkins B's: GLEN JOHNSON, JOPPY, TARVER

Throw in Taylor and Jones Jr. who he fought and lost to. That's a big difference in resume. If you want to say that Manfredo and Bika are good fighters, whatever. But, if you think Calzaghe's career will be remembered on the level as Hopkins you're wrong.

Also. Look, Ricky Hatton wanted to face the best fighters in the world. He did that. You got to respect that. Calzaghe's never shown the same interest. For whatever that's worth.

Money May, I know you know your boxing history, but it seems you're hesitant to catch up. This is NOT the country where the best fighters are anymore. Hop is not a legend, he lost to the only legitimate threats he ever faced. You can't start talking about Oscar and Tito, but criticize fighting a guy like Kessler. That one fight was better than Hopkins's entire career. All the best fighters above welterweight are elsewhere in the world anyway.

Get with it brother, fighting Americans in America just because we see them on ESPN and HBO is not important anymore.

You intentionally missed out fighters like Eubank on Calzaghe's list and have 3 fighters who are naturally 30-50 lbs smaller than Hopkins to his A opponents.

You are very wrong - clearly, you hate Calzaghe and feel some ****** need to discredit him.

You have Johnson as a "B" opponent, but Omar Sheika was coming off a win over Glen Johnson when Calzaghe destroyed him...

Eubank, Veit, Sheika, Brewer, Mitchell and Reid were all very good Calzaghe opponents.

Joe C has two good wins and that's it! KESSLER & LACEY. Before the Kessler fight all he talked about was his win over LACEY. He is pretty good but not great. The reason he always hid(fought) at HOME was cause he was scared of losing and didnt have confidence in himself
