Peter might hit harder but there is no way of knowing who hits harder anyway.
Louis was 190 the guys today are 220+ a lot of them hit harder then Louis did.

They hit harder, Louis was a better puncher.

Louis would have to put on more weight though so he wouldn't be bullied against Klitschko.
Louis was 200-220 and today he could easily be over 220 without losing much of his speed and stamina, he wouldn't have to worry about his conditioning so much with fights being 12 rounds now.

Buddy Bear was 237. Primo was 260 and probably stronger than both Klits, although a terrible fighter. Abe Simon was 255 pounds...sure he is not Klit, but the man was built like an Ox.

It's the skill of Wlad that Louis would have to be worried about.

Louis would not need to be more than 220 pounds on his 6'2 frame.

Holy was 205 in the first fight with the 6'5, 235 pound Bowe and did fine, although still lost.

But, we are not talking about placing fighters into certain time periods, instead, what they were.

Louis would also be vulnerable to Wlad's big right hand.

Wlad would be vulnerable to Louis speed, short-compact punches that have pin-point accuracy and coming in volume on the inside.

I know but the rules today benefit Klitschko who is less conditioned.
Louis won many of his matches after his opponents were worn down after 12 rounds.

Fighter's today carry more weight because they don't have to worry about going 15 rounds.

I'm not sure if he would be bullied by Klitschko but we might not be able to see his best work if it goes just 12 rounds.

I agree with that. There may have been harder punchers, but there has never been a better finisher than Joe Louis.

Brewster, Peter and Sanders hit harder, but like the machine said, they lack the technique of Louis. but the point is that they naturally hit harder.

Wlad is as conditioned as he is going to get so I hear ya. I would even blame weight, but he was 225 against Puritty. 6'6 guys just run out of steam a bit faster. But they do have advantages, like their weight to lean on the opponent, clinch, and hopefully arm length to jab someone to death, like Wlad's been doing. Of course their are negatives as well, that great smaller fighters, and you don't have to be to much smaller, can exploit.

Although you know the one guy that had good stamina for a big guy was Bowe...but what a waste (and I say that with respect for the Champ) but he didn't manage to stay in top shape and then ended up declining fast after Holy got to him.

You pace yourself differently. It just means Louis could fight even faster if it is 12 rounds. He came out blazing against Schmeling in the rematch because he had no intention of breaking him down through the course of the fight.

I was just surprised those three could actually find Klitschko's chin because they are some really sloppy punchers. I'm not really sold on Wladimir's defense yet, he is more cautious though.
