[QUOTE=deevel79;2968797]In his last two fights he went against the TWO biggest stars in the world..period.
Oscar..is well Oscar..hes loved by people who still think Tyson is the Heavyweight King...very casual fans.
Hatton is from another COUNTRY ofcourse he was going to bring a good number of them.
In America we have dozens of BIG NAME boxers to choose from....in the UK...what do they have Calzaghe and Hatton.....when you have two people to cheer for ofcourse theyre going to fill the arena.
Floyd is the biggest star in the sport BAR NONE.....but his fanbase is limited???...funniest **** I heard in a while.[/QUOTE
Look at what i highlighted and tell me if that makes sense.
Dude stop nitpicking you know what I meant.Comment

yeah his fanbase is limited , especially for being "the biggest star" he isnt the biggest"star"..
Cotto has more fans them them, Gatti has more fans them him Dela..TITO..
seriously dude..
there is a difference then being looked at as the best and having the biggest fan base..
Look at Lewis...he was the bar none the best heavyweight when he fought Tyson.. but most of the people that tuned in, tuned in to see Tyson...Comment

I would say that Floyd has a big fanbase - The thing is, the people that are his fans arent boxing fans. they are fans of mtv cribs, or pimp my ride, or I love NY or the crap that BET puts on. His fan base is very small within the boxing community is what i think is a more correct statement. I went to a bar to watch the FMJ/ Hatton fight and there were a ton of people cheering for floyd, and if you listened to them they had no idea what the were talking about...
a sampling -
"this fight is for the middleweight championship"
"they dont televise fights, except on PPV, anymore"
"floyd mayweather is a power puncher"
they are all real, all spoken by mayweather supporters, who i bet you have never even heard of Miguel Cotto, Paul Williams, Kermit Cintron (even though he is from this town!), or Antonio Margarito.Comment
