Nationalism is way more important to a country that feels patriotic. (They aren't generally, because they forget what that actually means.. but they feel it.)
I think we're mixing our generations and current atmosphere a bit here.

The UFC's popularity in the US has as much to do with the fact that most of the fighters are White as anything else - and that wouldn't have been the case 20, 30, or 50 years ago.

Race has something to do with it. Calzaghe and Kessler were two good looking, undeafeated, superstars in Europe and they can't do better numbers than Guzman vs. Soto or Ponce De Leon vs. Bautista??
      Bautista/De Leon= Mexican/Philipino Community

      Guzman/Soto Mexican/East Coast Latino community.

Calzhage/Kessler Welsh/Danish fighters with no real established concentrated community population here in america, maybe out in boston maybe (which is why hatton debuted out there, it was no coencidence).

You have to understand there are millions of latins and a ****load of loyal filipino fans who would live and die by their fighters here. far more than those who have european ties. im telling its not race.

I'll agree with that, but UFC is a young mans game. They are very simple-minded. Moreso than a person who get swayed by nationalism.

In terms of BOXINGS audience, they worry more about WHERE you came from, than the color of your skin. Especially for WHITE Americans.

now right there you have it right, UFC with its music, themes, even their sponsers, its very much aimed at white males/18-30. I mean basically they almost always have events that feature a white fighter. With all the heavy metal, and horror movie sponsers/slasher film sponsers and all this other high octane **** they pack in those shows, you know the demographic they are going for.

Honestly, more people in the US care about what color your skin is than where you're from.

no, i pointed out established communities by culture. Guzman is a black latin, that doesnt mean a ****load of mexicans are going to turn out to his fights. Its about culture and where youre from more than it is about race

I have quite a few white friends. Incase the cops come by and most of them are into boxing. The ones that are, actually rooted FOR Mayweather. One, being a casual fan, even said, "Oh, he's British. Ehh. I want Mayweather to lose but not to this guy. I don't like them."

Now, this says a lot for my prejudice selection of friends. Nonetheless, it speaks volumes, I believe, for the average WHITE American.

Fair enough, but race does play an overwhelming factor. This is America after all. Whites are as racially concious (and self concious) as they have ever been, at this particular time in history.
