what would you expect?...if american soccer between the best american teamswas shown in spain.compare it to how many peolpe would watch R.Madrid Vs Barcelona...obviously hardly any1 will bother watching the american soccer. The Spanish/English/Italians...basically anyone in europe wouldnt really care,as it doesnt really effect them.Just like the super middleweight division doesnt effect the americans,as it doesnt have any real contenders in that division.

Fact that hardly anyone watched it...doesnt mean it was a poor fight,or they are poor fighters. Had one of them been american, you could add a million or 2 viewers to those figures im sure

There's that, and then a reasonable if not excessive amount of White apathy toward White Boxers in the US. It will show itself further. No doubt.

calzhage and kessler are nobodies here, nobody had probably ever seen a kessler fight before that night since hes only been on HBO one time, and Calzhage doesnt get much mention here at all, i wouldnt attribute it at all to race, 2 european based boxers who get no tv time here for the most part is not going to draw a whole lot of viewers.

I know a bunch of people are gonna jump in and say "IGNORANT AMERICANS ONLY LIKE THINGS THAT ARE AMERICANS" but in reality that applies to just about everybody. The NCAA National Championship for Football is shown in the UK and nobody gives a ****, its not, "IGNORANT SCOTS, IRISH, ENGLISH ETC" you see what im saying?

It didn't have a countdown to Calzaghe - Kessler let alone a 24/7, what you expect?

I think they should have hyped it a bit more, more build-up. It's sad that Cotto/Mosley happened AFTER the fight. They could have used that PPV to build it up a bit, maybe give them an on air interview to talk trash. Lol.

A countdown would have been nice.

Surely, the European thing is a factor. I agree with that.

The White apathy is a problem though.

I'd say the style of the fighters involved affects how many PPV's it gets, 1 out and out brawler KO king against either a silky smooth boxer or another brawler will attract more people to watch it then a match up between 2 text book boxers.

white people in america dont give a **** about non american white fighters. i mean, i went through this in the "great white hope" thread. Its the same reason Ike Quartey doesnt have this huge african american following, you cant blame race on this one, if thats the case, why would Joe Mesi have a huge following out in Buffalo? Because hes a white american, whereas Vassily Jirov DOESNT.
