In a recent interview with Franklin McNeil of the New Jersey Star-Ledger, Mayweather gave his thoughts on Cotto trying to lure him into a fight by revealing his strategy to win. Mayweather, as one can expect, does not agree with Cotto's fight plan. More important than that, he doesn't feel the fight makes any financial sense at the moment. [details]
*** Fraud, he was too pusssssy to take on anyother real threat in the division, thats why he retired.............and he should stay retired, boxing dont need him, now we have more entertaining fights at WW because these cats want to fight eachother...

It's not as easy as you guys think.
Mayweather is not Cotto's key to greatness...Cotto has to make his own greatness, not have somebody hand it to him.

      2. Fighting and beating Joshua Clottey is Cotto's key to greatness
      3. Beating Margarito is Cotto's key to greatness
      4. Being a undisputed champion of a division is Cotto's key to greatness
      5. Being fighter of the year over a combined 9 times is Cotto's key to greatness
      6. Having 8 title defense in one division is Cotto's key to greatness
      7. Actually winning a title from a champion is Cotto's key to greatness
      8. Learning how to stop upper cuts and straight right hands is Cotto's key to greatness
      9. Stop fighting for vacant titles is Cotto's key to greatness
      10. Moving up 5 weight classes and winning titles is Cotto's key to greatness
      11. Being Pound for Pound # 1 in boxing for a 3 year period is Cotto's key to greatness

See here's what I don't understand...you respond to blatant haters so you can just repeat yourself over and over again, but you don't respond to the people engaging in a reasonable debate with you.

Maybe if you ignored the haters you wouldn't have to copy and paste past posts like 50 times.

imagine if floyd only won all of his titles by fighting contenders for vacant belts....Honestly and objectively..and when i say contenders i mean contenders.

What do you think the response would be from the boxing world???

Nobody's saying Floyd is the key to Cotto's legacy, people just want to see them fight, period. Is that such a tough idea to ponder? YOU wouldn't buy that PPV???

Floyd's persona is what gets him by. People love to cheer against an *******, and Floyd knows that. You can talk about all of his accomplishments as if it's the best thing since the internet, but at the end of the day its WHO you fight, not how many trophies you got.

Sugar Ray Leonard was a multiple division champ, but who talks about that more than his fights with Hagler, Duran, and Hearns? Belts mean **** today in Boxing...true story

But when it comes to Mayweather, if some of those wins for vacant titles were against guys of Quintana's level than I honestly don't think there would be much criticism.

You have to remember, Quintana was undefeated, a real WW while Cotto was moving up, and was coming off a great win over Joel Julio...he was a legit opponent.

And Pinto turned out to be not much, but at the time he was an undefeated Olympian that beat Cotto in the am's.

I'm not comparing Cotto to Mayweather....I'm not ******ed, there's no comparison. And a lot of your points on what Cotto still has to do to reach elite level are true and I agree with a lot of what you're saying. But some of your points are reaches.
                      OK MY BAD..
                      i didnt see this...

This is what I see happening everyday on boxingscene...
people think that All cotto has to do is to get a fight with mayweather and win and he will be great.. nall it doesnt work that way...

If ricky Hatton beat Pacquaio is he now the p4p#1 fighter in the sport?
                      Hell no!

I never see Cotto fans demanding Cotto go fight Wiliams,Clottey, or moved up divisions to accomplish greater things... I never see them asking them fighter to put in work... never.. they expect 1 fight to do it all for cotto..and it doesnt work like that and never has..

                      Did it work Vernon Forrest??
Did it work for buster douglas??

                      You see my point?
