He knows it deep inside his heart. This is what befuddles Floyd. This is what makes Floyd just a little bit reluctant to accept the challenge.
A fight vs. Cotto would be a risky journey into the unknown for Floyd who is used to controlling fight scenarios through his skillful handpicking.
Floyd tells us pressure pressure pressure is not the remedy to beat him. Yeah, right, like he is going to tell us what it is? and what it not is? Floyd is going to help his adversary?
Pressure is the way to defeat Floyd, and Cotto absolutely has the required assets to do it.
Cotto has more than most of the other pressure fighters he has faced like Hatton, Hernandez, Chavez, even Corrales and maybe Castillo. Nonetheless, they were all beaten because they came forward and tried to over pressure him and were all just counter punched to hell without being able to land anything very meaningful.
Floyd hasn't faced a really good boxer yet and that is where he falls down in some peoples view. The best boxer he has fought was Judah and Judah is a big pile of mentally unstable crap. The way to beat a counter puncher is to out-box him, using your jab a lot and darting in and out with a lot of movement. What is there to counter punch? Floyd is not aggressive so unless his opponent is he will not be punching much.
If Cotto does fight him I see Mayweather winning in a pretty good fight as Cotto has some good skills and he seems to be getting faster while still keeping his strength. It will be a good fight, but, if Cotto does nothing but just charge forward all night he will get beaten. It is still certainly possible that Cotto could beat him with that exact plan, just quite unlikely.Comment
