Instead of gloating about a non-existant analysis, maybe you should educate yourself about the history of the sport.

And actually stepping in the squared circle wont hurt either.

    • Wiley is right. Glad I am not the only one that remembers
what happened in the Tszyu fight. That was 10 rounds of
holding and even a low blow ... what goes around comes around ...
also Tszyu fought Hatton at 2am or something ....

I would like to see Mayweather Vs Tszyu

Don't forget Tszyu's record against dancing style boxers ....

Hey small fry. All I have to say is, at least I'm not an internet keyboard warrior like yourself.

I could easily bash your face in inside the ring, and out (all 6'4'' 220 lbs of me).

I dont get my jolly's on the site by predicting a single fight right. I'd rather talk boxing, talk some ****, and educate myself about the sport.

Azteca, You actually played witness to my analysis, saying, and Im paraphrasing.

Hmm... clinchfest, interesting idea, Im not sure I agree with everything you said, but you had some good points.

On another note, I am an active amateur boxer, and an avid reader of boxing history with a considerable archive of classic fights, mainly consisting of slicker fighters, but I do have a few of the mauling types.

Here is just a taste of my first analysis posted 3 months before fight night.

There is really only one important thing to look at when determining how this fight will play out, Ricky's holding habits.

Ricky Hatton is an offensive holder, meaning he grabs on to one of your arms to neutralize any offensive capabilities you have when he comes in for his attack.

Floyd Mayweather, as demonstrated in the De La Hoya fight, is a defensive holder. This means that he usually grabs onto your right arm when you put him against the ropes and try to hammer him.

What does this mean? Floyd will tag Ricky while he gets inside, Ricky will grab Floyd's left arm, while Floyd grabs Rickys right arm.

In essence they will both be attempting to clench at the same time.
Ricky will hammer away with left hooks to the body, while Floyd will pot shot him with right uppercuts. When Floyd has had enough, he will grab Ricky's left arm and force the ref to break them, starting the process all over again.

This will be a boring fight, unless Ricky completely forgoes the left hook, and tries to make the fight all about uppercuts, in which case it might be interesting.

Most likely, Floyd will win by UD, with the judges favoring his clean shots landed while Ricky tries to get inside. A good fight to watch for how the action will play out, is Roman Karmizan v Cory Spinks. Not exactly how the fight will look, but an example of a game plan based on defensive holding.

          • Sky TV's report:

Look at Cortez name pop up:

            Round One

Hatton lands the first jab of the night, but Mayweather catches him on the way in the next two exchanges. Referee Joe Cortez is too quick to step in as Hatton tries to get inside. At length Hatton sends Mayweather scuttling off balance with a great jab and gets him in the corner, before the ref steps in - again. Floyd's straight right leads are landing and the Pretty Boy has had the better shots hit home. Mayweather ends the round complaining, but probably edged it.
            SKYSPORTS.COM SCORING: Mayweather 10-9

            Round Two

Hatton kicks off with a huge left hook but is still susceptible to the straight right over the top. Mayweather lands three and sadly every time Hatton gets close, referee Joe Cortez steps in. Two time outs and a warning mean there is no rhythm yet. Ricky's face is reddened but so far so good. He is forcing the fight as expected and is having no trouble catching Floyd with his left - straights and hooks. Cortez the only one not looking good so far.
            SKYSPORTS.COM SCORING: Hatton 10-9

            Round Three

It's turning into the Joe Cortez show! Too many interventions - one when Hatton was throwing a punch - are doing Hatton no favours. He keeps coming though, a good start cut short by Mayweather's holding. The first close exchange goes Hatton way, but on the back foot a left-right-left combination shows Floyd's class. Now for the bad news... Hatton is cut! Above the right eye, courtesy of a punch, but Mayweather paws at it furiously in a clinch.
            SKYSPORTS.COM SCORING:Mayweather 10-9

            Round Four

Hatton's worst round yet. The cut is not getting any better of course, but other than a right down the middle, it's all Mayweather. Hatton is not being helped, still, by some ridiculous refereeing - Hatton is constantly being warned - and as a result the pace suits Floyd perfectly. A four-punch flurry rocks Hatton badly and even when Hatton does get a left in, the right comes back, clean and crisp. Hatton looks weary already. Hopefully it's nervous energy.

Interesting post. Not going to say I totally agree, but they are good points nonetheless.

The battle of the holder's. ha ha
Ouch, feels good to be wrong doesn't it Azteca?

Yes. We all saw it. And we all know that Cortez just discredited his entire career. It was his big chance to save American boxing from the Brits and he fulfilled his duties well.

I'm not saying Hatton would have won but for that referee. But, I surely hoped that these two would have been allowed to fight freely. I'm more disappointed in the sport of boxing than in Mayweather with this fight. Obviously, nationalistic influences played a role in this fight. Still, Floyd did stand in and he did not "run." Let's give him credit for that....even with the help.

                  Congratulations, shawn.

You may be...just may be the smartest member on the forum.

Almost as smart as Bobby Czyz. (I know you dont know why I am referring to Bobby, but look him up and then you may find out the reason...then get back to me).

If you look in Round 1 when Mayweather was stunned and in the corner. I'm willing to bet if Cortez hadn't stood in, Ricky would've finished him.
